iPhone 5: Coming June 2012
Discussion
Walked into O2 in Warrington last week and picked one up there and then. Really impressed but to be fair I dropped my 4 after about a month and smashed it, and never got round to replacing it.
Just out of interest, I read that when 4g is availible, anyone on O2 or Orange with an Iphone5 wont be able to get this? does anyone have any decent info on whether this is true or not, also, will 4g require a new contract? (sorry but i'm far from technology savy by PH standards if these come across as stupid questions)

It's 02 or Vodafone as the uk iPhone5 on works on the band being run by EE (tmobile/orange) - I'm sure this will change nearer the time the others launch but only EE will be launching before next July in anycase so expect the 5s to have the necessary revisions to make others upgrade again Council Baby said:

To get 4G you'll need a 4G contract, and to live in one of the 17 cities they *aim* to launch it in.Just out of interest, I read that when 4g is availible, anyone on O2 or Orange with an Iphone5 wont be able to get this? does anyone have any decent info on whether this is true or not, also, will 4g require a new contract? 4G contracts don't yet exist, and there are no set prices for it...

Possibly. Not all iPhone5s will be able to utilise 4G on all operator's 4G networks. This is because they operate on different frequency ranges. You need to ask the specific question to the operator you're with to see if the iPhone5 they're selling you will work on their 4G network when it's available. As for the contract, again - check when you're signing. The agreement I have (in Australia) doesn't state 4G or 3G in the contract, you can simply use whatever the phone can pick up.. however the amount of data included in the agreement is the same. Ie. it's not as if a 3G contract is 1gb/month and a 4G contract is 30gb/month.

Finally got a date window now! 15th-19th of this month.
Do Apple send me tracking once it's dispatched so I can figure out what day I need to stay home on?
you will get a txt and you'll have to use the tracking number given with the specific courriers website tracking systemDo Apple send me tracking once it's dispatched so I can figure out what day I need to stay home on?
also don't just stay at home, set up a tent outside the front door as the delivery guy will most likely fart on the door knob then claim attempted delivery and leave

Apparently the chip in them has been 'cracked' now so the market should be flooded with 3rd party versions soon . I'm holding out, £25 each is ridiculous. lots of places including apple say there are in stock, but ive not yet seen one in any shop!
