I've just sent a belter of an email to the CEO at O2. I await his response from his office monkeys.

Gladly.

Dear Ronan,

I thought I would email you to make you aware of how terrible the company you’re “running” is actually “running” at the moment. Over the past week, I have tried and I do empathises the word tried to order a iPhone 5. Whilst I appreciate that I am not the only person within the UK and World that requires one of these lovely shiny phones, it would appear that none of your members of staff are in fact singing off the same hymn sheet.

Please, let me elaborate on what has happened or happening. On Thursday, I called O2 to order a 32GB White iPhone, I was under the impression that this would be relatively easy. I phone up, I tell you what I want and after that, I give you my card details – o2 get the money and I get my iPhone 5. In short – no it’s not an easy process at all. The first lady ordered me a 16GB iPhone 5, which is not what I required, so this order was cancelled (or so I thought) and was also told that if I wanted a 32GB I would need to phone tomorrow, sorry what? However, o2 had kindly already taken £249.99 out of my account, which I understand that human errors do happen.

I was told on the telephone call (which apparently are monitored for training and monitoring purpose) that my order for a 16GB iPhone was cancelled and I was to call back within one hour to make sure so I could order the 32GB. This order was cancelled within fifteen minutes, so the £249.99 would not leave my account – this infact was one of the many lies which have been confirmed by o2. So, skip forward one hour later – the order had not been cancelled (I called one hour later as per the call handlers instructions’). So, I am now on my second call to get myself a shiny 32GB iPhone in white. This order was cancelled again (it wasn’t) and again, told to call back in one hours time. So, third call, guess what the order hasn’t been cancelled and my £249.99 is even more on its way to your Head Office to pay for your expenses. So, call four I think now, I honestly can’t remember because I am trying to forget how many times I’ve called o2 as it’s beginning to bore me and I’ve lost faith in o2. Anyway, again, it’s not cancelled (forth time now) and I speak to a Manager – David Ewan and to be fair, what a nice chap.

The order was finally cancelled and I was able to upgrade my iPhone? No, I needed to wait for it to “disappear” on the system. Finally, it disappeared and David phoned me back so I could upgrade to my iPhone 5 32GB White. David, then drops the bombshell of, “although you have already paid £249.99 for an iPhone, infact we actually need to take the full amount again. However, the call handler previous said I only needed to pay a further £50 towards the 32GB iPhone. So, another lie from o2. I paid a further £299.99 for a “White iPhone 5 32GB. Hurrah – the phone that I originally wanted in the first place is finally ordered, yet I am now down £549.98 and have nothing to show for it.

I would like to stress that this all happened on Thursday and unfortunately for you, there is more reading. Friday came and I was under the impression that I had an iPhone 5 and it’s on its way – think again. No, apparently I had a 16GB & 32GB on its way. No, I only wanted a 32GB and not the 16GB, therefore another call and this was cancelled – (fifth call now). So, I’ve cancelled the 16GB and I’ve got a 32GB on its way – magic we are getting somewhere. So, another call is made because I want my £249.99 back which you took in error. I speak to Bill. Bill says I need to phone the Bank of Scotland (my bank) and I need to request a Indemnity Charge Back. I do phone the bank and they tell me that Bill is talking a lot of rubbish. Indemnity charge back’s only happen after 30 days of the goods not being received. So Bill, you’re infact talking rubbish. So, another call to o2 (please do look at my records so you can actually see how many times I’ve called o2 since Thursday because it honestly is incredible) The next call handler says the money will be in my account today (am). It’s currently 13:21 and I’ve still no money in my account.

I am still £249.99 pounds out my account and I’ve still no iPhone 5 even though it’s waiting for collection and is ready, yet, it’s not be sent to me.

So my question is Mr Dunne, what are you going to do about this? Do you honestly think this is TCF (treating customers fairly) because I honestly don’t?

Perhaps you or someone can look into this and call me or email me back with a answer.

My telephone number is ***********.

Kind Regards,

Simon

Thanks, I'll have to wait until I get back as can't check my PH Gmail on work computer.

They're getting a somewhat tongue in cheek but to the point email from me later.
Do let me know if you get a response at all. I've had sweet FA at the moment. Should I hold my breathe? Or will I get custard pied?

Nearly two weeks after O2 ordering the wrong phone in error, I STILL don't have the £249.99 they took out my account. Really not impressed at all!

Mine is a mess. Got a black 5 on the release date and it just got the normal usage my phone gets in 3 weeks. The edges on all 4 sides has very small chips, with the aluminium colour showing through, and the slate back has 2 chips and 1 scratch. My iPhone 4 had loads of scratches but being glass it didn't really show. Can't imagine what it would look like in a year. Don't really do cases - tried one in desperation but hated it.

So I phoned Apple to see if I could get it swapped out for a white one. Looking at the online examples the white one seems to survive a lot better. Got all wound up ready for a good fight and the barstewards couldn't have been more helpful wink New white one will arrive in 4-5 days and the black one will then be collected a later date by another courier.
That's pretty impressive to be fair. They could have told you to bolt.
