+1 feels pretty solid actually.

Mine has a few glitches. For example, the screen will be REALLY dim randomly. One lock and unlock and it's fine again.

Also, it will freeze for a second in any part of messages.

Slightly off topic, but maybe not worth a new thread:

Apple Wins Patents for NFC Alternative Technology

That might explain the omission of NFC on the iPhone 5.
Quite curious how this tech will compare (looks a lot the same to my untrained eye), and why they decided to go another way rather than the widely used NFC-standard.

Interesting conversation in an orange shop today.

They had one. It works out at over a thousand pounds for 2 years.

I wasn't allowed to see it until I bought it, and I couldn't return it I I didn't like it.

Suffice to say I declined.

Suspect they knew someone else would be along shortly who would buy it unseen, and I wasn't worth the trouble.

Yup specially as other operators will do it for nearly half that.

No demo devices. No mock ups.

Because it was white, and I've never seen a white one so wasn't sure I'd like it.

Their loss then, I thought you were going to say you wanted to inspect it to make sure it was pristine or something. Although to be fair I wouldnt buy one that had been opened so had you not liked it who would have bought it after they unwrapped it for you?

Surely there was another phone shop nearby that had a white one on show?

I have just got a white one to differentiate it from my last black one. I like it.

Not that I could see. I like the black one, but they only had white available, and no examples to look at of either.

Black one via the Internet it is then

Dam and blast. I saw 2 and thousand in the same sentence and my brain came up with 2 thousand paperbag

Yup about one thousand over 2 years is about it. Loads of minutes and (if on 3) really unlimited data with teathering enabled out of the box. There's no getting away from the fact the iPhone 5 prices are punchy. But hey it's an extravagance. If we were sensible we'd all have Nokia 3210's with 2 weeks standby, carry paper maps and use cassette Sony walkmans.

I've got a garage full of extravagances, you can see what I'm like hehe

well i go to london with it with the nipper and inbetween her playing her apps ( yes see other thread dont start moaning ) and me twittering, interwebbing and taking photos of her all day the battery is gone by the train home.

problem is its soo good you want to use it for everything so the battery just goes - would rather have a 4s with an extended battery than the 5 tbh

so needs charging ev night which is a worry with a 2 year contract can see the battery being non existant by the end

and yes have turned off a lot of location stuff but still need it on for maps, rightmove etc. havent tried turning down the brightness yet will try that

It is the usual problem with decent smartphones. Because they are very good at what they do, you use them. A lot. And then the battery runs flat.

I think all the current smartphones do a pretty good job of jamming as mug power into a small footprint as possible, but it will never be enough.

If it helps, my iPhone4 has been charges every day for well over two years, and battery performance is still acceptable.

Oh, and if anyone cares; trigger pulled on a black 64gig unit.

I may have bought the white one this afternoon, but I wasn't allowed to see it.
