Well, for the first time in years I know the SGS2 is everything I need it to be and just can't bring myself to justifying an upgrade (yet). The SGS3 does look like a promising phone though, but I'm going to hold out.

I'd be happy to hear from experiences though!

Rather odd....carphone warehouse saying ALL blue phones been recalled by Samsung! They are phoning through all their pre-order people now.

Seems like a very small number of units will be blue at launch (less than 5%) so if you ordered blue....95% chance you wont get it.

I'm in the same boat. My contract is up next May but I don't feel the itchy feeling when I see the latest phone and can't wait to upgrade.

Just read this on a (dutch) tech website, apparently they discovered quality issues with the back plate of the blue devices.
All 600 000 already produced will be recalled and reproduced.

Delivery is still rumoured for June despite the set back though.

Just been contacted by three only white one available for tomorrow, all blue ones in the UK have been recalled (not just three's allocation), delivery will begin 1st June for blue models, so not too long a wait if true. Apparently they have been getting a lot of grief from their customers, the chap I spoke sempt so relieved I wasn't yelling at him.

8th of June delivery according to CPW for a blue one, so I've cancelled my order, I'll just pick one up later next month.

Switched my order to white so getting one in the post in the morning - reading online....seems everyone is beating round the bush with the situation when they all mean - there's no blue ones, and wont be until end of June.

Yeah, cancelled mine too thinking the same thing. Problem is the idiots at vodafone had already switched the contract to the new one and already charged me, so I phoned up and asked them to cancel this and put me on my old contract and refund what they had already charged. I now have lost conection to the network and support can't access account info due to some issues so they can't sort it out furious

Vodafone getting some serious stick on their forums, people are getting two emails at the same time - one saying the phone is on the way, the second says its delayed. Then they put out a press release sayins something slightly different, then they are getting phone calls saying something else and so on.

I'm pretty annoyed because I have an upgrade due, but they aren't giving any upgrades to existing users - you just have to take the pre-order prices, so much for customer loyalty! They said they would be able to call back after launch to sort out a deal. Inevitably that has now changed to "when we have stock", which I guess means after all the pre-orders. So new customers get their phones now, existing customer have to wait until last...

I did think of going to CPW/Phones4u as they were offering pretty decent upgrade deals, but thought I'd be better staying with Vodafone direct.. obviously not frown

I half thought about going down to one of the Samsung pop up stores...but no idea if they are actually selling the phone or have any stock.

Major PR balls-up by Samsung. Very embarrassing for them, I'm sure.

Think I might do that as well. I wonder if there's suddenly going to be a shortage of HOXs tomorrow?

Very annoying this for those of us who were torn between the HOX and the S3 but decided to wait for the S3.

Has anyone had the chance to compare the HTC One X and SGS3 side by side?

I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place in terms of which to go for having convinced myself I need a second phone to go alongside my iPhone.

I really want the S3, but for app switching and fast navigation through menus etc, the Samsung software seems a touch laggy compared to the HTC. I'm also a bit put off by the ICS delay / debacle and don't want to be left with old software in a few months time when the HTCs have pushed out the fancy new stuff. OK perhaps an exaggeration of timescale but you know what I mean, right?

The one thing I prefer about the S3 is the expansion slot, but given I'll be stuck with a 16GB phone, I can get a 32GB HTC and drop box can pick up the slack if needs be. Overall though, the only thing I really love about the Samsung is the form factor - it's definitely the nicer of the two in the hand.

On one hand they're much of a muchness, on the other they're just different enough to make it a tricky decision. I think, despite being slightly inferior hardware wise, I prefer the HTC. But I don't really know why silly

Im a Desire user and if the One X had been praised for its battery life (and had a removable battery & memory card), then I'd have bought it. Because it thinks its now Apple with a sealed unit, and the battery life is still poor, I'm heading towards Samsung. I just need to barter T-Mobile as a loyal customer (been with them about 8 years), to give me a free one at around £25 a month. Cant see why not as there are deals just over that online (without cashback).

I wouldn't think so, not yet.

the Samsung software on the S3 or previous models? IIRC, from the reviews I've seen the S3 is said to be better in that regard.

What's that Stu? I'm not aware of this ICS issue. I don't know anyone with ICS though.

You've used one then? Sadly, I've not had pleasure.

With 20-20 hindsight, if I'd known Samsung was going to dick us about at the last minute like this, I'd have bought the HOX weeks ago. But I'm convinced the S3 is the better phone.
However, 'cos of what Samsung have now done, I don't know if I want to give them money. I might just carry on using my current iPhone until the next iPhone is released.

I'm going to call Vodafone and see if I can get at least half off this months cost. The cost I pay each month in part subsidises the cost of a new handset. If I was on a sim only contract my cost each month would be £18 and not £36 and if I am going to be without the new handset for 2-4 weeks I want that cost back. I'm already in my new contract period and have been for 2 weeks!

Yep, had a play with one in a store today (Phones4U) while getting my ears bent off by some prick in a BHS suit trying to convince me his HTC was the dogs knackers, despite me making it abundantly clear I was perfectly willing to ram it up his arse if he didn't go away. Knew there was a reason I never go in phone shops...

Anyway, yes, got the chance to have a play with the SGS3 as mentioned, and a One X in another store. I really want the Samsung, don't care about delays etc and I'm happy to wait a week (not exactly crying about being stuck with just an iPhone 4S - still my favourite). The ICS debacle thing I was referring to Samsung taking an eternity to push out Ice Cream Sandwich while most other devices got it much, much sooner. It's one of the very few things nudging me towards the HTC, that and the fact I much prefer the HTC UI for the reasons outlined above. Unless there's some good roms out there or something to replace the samsung stuff - I'm not that up on this stuff these days after years of being happy with Apple kit.

edit - in terms of being a bit laggier than the HTC, I was referring to the new S3, not the older model.
