Has anyone managed to get the camera to take decent photos in low light conditions? I find it worse than my better half's iPhone 4 at night (but much better in the daytime).

I'm now swaying more towards the S3 instead of the iphone 5.

What apps are a must for the S3? I'm not a full time geek but I do like the idea of some of the different apps that are available for the S3.

Anything else worth taking into consideration before going for one?

You can't connect your macbook to a galaxy S3 by cable! I would think carefully about switching. I did, and I'm not sure I did the right thing. I think I would get an iphone5 now if I could. There is no neat solution to itunes and android and Ive yet to find anything that is as neat, although android is much better regarding movies and drag and drop.
Look at Airdroid and doubletwist ....

I've been hunting for this - but is Carmageddon out for Android yet?

Just had a play with an iPhone5. What an utterly stunning case that is! Looks like a solid billet of aluminium was used and then they diamond cut the outside just like alloy wheels. The screen looks 'nice' and after comparing it to my plastic cased S3, the S3 feels inferior. That is until you start to move around the screen in fruit-farm mode. The little animations are slick, button press is very precision but I was bored after a few minutes and it felt very apple..as if it were an Iphone4.. well it is really.

Why can't Samsung make a decent case? They would have it all if they did. I'm going to stick with my S3 for now but will look out for the Note2 when that is released. I can see what people say about the iPhone quality but I want a phone to do more - infact to replace my desktop and the iPhone is the difference between a thick blonde and a pretty librarian - you would love to be seen with the blonde but would prefer to live with the librarian wink

I get 2 days + change out of mine, sometimes 3 days if I don't use it much.

Tips:
Look at XDA forums for "BetterBatteryStats" - download, install and make sure you don't have wakelocks killing the battery
Don't run screen at full brightness - mines at probably 25% which is plenty bright enough
I don't know if it makes a difference anymore but I typically run the phone down to 15% or so and then full charge.
I downloaded this yesterday, and didn't seem to do anything!

When I opened the app, there was just one line with some random equation.

Same thing again this morning, no stats, no nothing (even tough I changed the options to Kernal/Process etc)

Am I not doing anything right?

The app is saved on the phone and not on the SD card.

One of the advantages of being allowed to take the back cover off is that you can replace it with no end of different metal ones on Ebay and elsewhere.

Mine came with the Team GB Olympics back cover, which I quite like...

But for more reserved moments, there's stuff like this...

Still feels cheap (although the new black one looks better).

I take the view that robust enough not to break is robust enough for me, and after that I'd prefer they invest the money in enhancing functionality without increasing device size, so I'm not bothered by it looking a bit plasticky.

Having said that I'd want Apple to invest a bit more in screens that don't break before I considered buying one.

Hmm their screens are just a bit more brittle than others, but I think the main problem is with the design. There truly is nothing to stop direct contact with the ground if you drop it. The 3GS was nowhere as prone to breaking as the 4(S).

Now if they released the Note2 with an alloy case that would clear up

Guys, there is an issue in TW that can allow the phone to be wiped if a link is followed. Only appears to affect US AT&T phones at the moment, but won't hurt to be aware.

No doubt a fix is coming, meantime be careful!

telegraph have got the wrong end of the stick, can't find any confirmation for international model either way.

ETA: International version not affected, turns out this is an old issue that was known about and Samsung fixed the ROMs on various phones.

Non story.

My desire hd was made out of metal, when it had a case on you couldn't tell what it was made of and without the case, the metal would scratch. This was the same with my HTC hero.
For me the plastic is nice and light and so far no scratches smile
