The only real choice at the moment is the HTC One S, or the older and slightly larger Galaxy S2. "slightly larger" isn't completely correct though, the SGS2 is just as wide, 5mm smaller and 3g lighter, just in thickness it's .7mm thicker. But, agreed, I think 4" is just a bit small, 4.3/4.5 is spot on for me, but I can imagine people being "afraid" to go to such a "big" screen coming from 3.5". I too find the handsets becoming overly large, it makes Sense for Samsung to market a 4" next to its S2 and S3.

Now I find I get far more "oh s t, I've lost my phone" moments before finding it in my trouser pocket than I do "my phone's too big" moments.

Seriously though, it's not at all the case. Perfectly normal-sized pockets, but the phone is slim, light and flat with rounded corners, so there's just nothing to dig in and remind you it's there. Just because there are slimmer and lighter phones, it doesn't mean this one isn't slim and light enough.

The "it doesn't fit in your pockets" argument is so overdone it's getting tiresome. I have no problem fitting a Note in my regular-sized jeans pockets. I was "afraid" of this when getting the S2 after my iPhone (3.5") and my Milestone (3.7"), and it was actually the contrary, the S2 has a better shape and is thinner and lighter, so, just like you, I had a lot of "I forgot my phone!" moments when I left in the morning.

Anyone know when the 64Gb versions will be out?
Also...
- is it true they can only use up to 32Gb of any microSD you put in (or bs from the chap in the phone shop...am aware that both software and hardware *can* limit these things, but not really sure why anyone would these days)?
- are they 4G to the point that they'll work on any frequencies opened up here?

Don't know about 64gb versions.
No, 64gb cards work - I've got one in mine.
Two versions available here - regular one is not 4g capable. Orange/T-Mobile have the LTE (i.e. 4g) capable version available, you'll need to go with them for 4g (until summer next year anyway).
Not worth it at the moment if you ask me, coverage will be sparse for a while and its going to cost extra per month (whenever they get around to releasing contract details).

Am pretty much decided I'm going to get one as my next phone after being an iPhone owner for 5yrs. Want a 64Gb version though so will hang on a little. Will do a bit more research on the 4G front.

Is there an app that suggests contacts that are the same and then allows you to connect them under 1 contact? I used to have a HTC Desire Z and a HTC XE and they done this automatically but, I can only seem to do it manually on the S3.

Had this phone for a weekend now and I'm seriously impressed. Once you get your head around how to work all of its features it's an immensely powerful thing. The camera is unbelievable, here's a quick sample I snapped earlier today with it. With regards to the SGS vs iPhone debate, I don't think one's better than the other, it's just which you prefer. I personally chose the SGS because the iOS interface bores me - little customisation, very rigourous across all Apple products and starting to look dated now.

I have an SIII and for some reason, hitting the end call button doesn't end the call about 50% of the time. I know I hit the button because the look changes. Any ideas? It's pretty annoying, that ;-)

From some of the reading up I've been doing, it's out in some areas and I think imminent in the UK, with the proviso that the network carrier you're with might not release it for their interpretation for a bit longer. Am definitely holding out until the 64Gb version is out. Getting the thing up to 128Gb would mean all the media I would want to carry round with me (all my music plus a lot of videos) can go on the phone without having to pre-select. Assuming the 4G version comes out at the same sort of time, that'll be when I pull the trigger.

That version of JB they are talking about still seems to be a development version (the baseband number gives it away). It seems in some regions LTE S3s are now shipping with JB so it can't be too long. The stock app does it: Go in to contacts, find the contact you wish to link, tap it. Now press the button on the left, select "join contact" from the menu, from the popup select the contact you wish to link to. Done.

You could do manually like that, but it does not find Contacts that are duplicates, which is what I think he was asking for.
