I'm after a pair of DECT phones. There's a million on the market. What would swing it for me is a pair that share the same address book - i.e. punch in the names and numbers once, and have them "sent" to the other phone.
Does this exist?
If not, any recommendations (with the reasons for the recommendation)? I specifically don't want an answerphone.
Thanks.

We have some Panasonic handsets spread out around the house.
Very cheap. Only need one telephone socket. Cost £39.99 for 3 handsets from Tesco

Watchman said: What are the reasons? Does it share the phone/address book? Depends on the model and the mobile etc you have, but mine does (via bluetooth). I've found all the DECT offerings a bit "meh". But the Gigasets work OK and I'd agree they're are probably the pick of the bunch right now.

I have one that has Skype built in, so can make and receive Skype calls from it. Great bit of kit, if that's useful for you. It's a Dualphone 3088

Ah my specialist subject I'm chuffed that finally a phone is coming on the market with a proper shared phone book (we get asked for this all the time) the base has a shared phone book and each handset has an individual memory plus it has the other gem of talking caller I'd .its an 8561 due in 10 days and up to 6 handsets No gigasets do what you want but the DX800 connects with outlook as oes the sl910 and sl400 but your spending hundreds here. Full spec of the pan on our site and possibly amazon

Perhaps we should differentiate between shared phone book and phonebook synchronisation. Every DECT phone I have had going back to the classic Ascom Avena 233/266 has had the ability to push a phonebook from one handset to another. In this case, you maintain one phone with the 'master' phonebook and whenever you update it, push it to the other handsets. It's a manual process to initiate the push and takes about 30 seconds per handset to do this. I think what DSLiverpool is saying is the new ones will have either a central phone book or they are automatically sync'd between handsets. For the record, the Avenas are still the best DECT phone I ever had. Panasonics are tough and reliable surviving numerous drops from height onto tiled floors. Gigaset was pretty good but was a bit of an awkward shape and the earpiece packed up after one drop. BTs (I forget the model) I got for my mother were cheap and it shows. Good spec but audio quality is appalling. Panasonic every time for me. Best cordless phone I ever had was a US spec 'ranch phone' the range was epic (measure it in km, not m) but not sure it was entirely legal to operate in the UK. Probably trampled all over some military communications or something As an aside, I can recommend DSL. No affiliation other than a satisfied customer.

Never Philips, I had some and they were pretty awful. Got Panasonic ones now, which are doing ok.

Shared phone book Panasonic has come into stock early, 100 entries per handset and 150 in the base - its a Panasonic KXTG8561EB with up to 6 handsets available from us, other Panasonic stockists and Amazon
(also has talking caller id where it reads the name you have in the phone book out when a call comes in from the person - handy)
