Does anyone else find the weight of a phone irrelevant ?

Make the next iPhone thicker and heavier with a better battery as a consequence and I will be more than happy.

I am a bit miffed that my iphone4 is going to miss out on the 3G FaceTime and turn by turn sat nav, just game playing IMO. I can see this happening more and more as phones are getting so good that people could opt to keep them longer than 24 months.

If you Jailbreak you can have this functionality now.

It is a bit naughty (but not unexpected) of Apple really.

Yes, really. You were moaning about Facebook integration. Either you have no idea what that means, or you are an arm waver. All it is is an option to post a picture, webpage, etc, to Facebook, (or twitter). If you do not use Facebook, (as I do not), then it has absolutely zero impact on you.

What does freedom of choice have to do with Facebook integration? You are an arm waver, aren't you?
It has all to do with Facebook because obviously apple is working around the clock for 15 year olds ffs, while I'm looking at my 4k sound system and wondering why I can't play music from my iPad/iPhone/mbp ( now sold ) , why I can't delete/make playlists from phone or just maybe give me some freedom to basic things like who provides the weather on that widget thing and finally why I don't have google turn by turn on my apple phone

Please lower your tone, your read like a mongrel
What do you mean you can't make playlists on the iPhone?

You can... theres an "add playlist" right at the top of the playlist page. Then when you sync your phone it appears in iTunes (not sure if it does this over the wifi though, think you still need a physical hook up). Want to make a playlist on your computer from your phone/ipad? no worries.... apples own app called remote, lets you do just this through home sharing.

heavier? I don't think that's possible.

iPhone 4s Galaxy S2 Galaxy Nexus HTC One X Galaxy S3
3.5" 4.3" 4.65" 4.7" 4.8"
140g 130g 135g 130g 133g

As for size, I do think it'll get a little bigger, but it can actually grow to 4" easily without actually getting bigger.
What is 5/10g?

Gives it a feeling of quality over the other flimsy offerings anyway.

Oh, sorry, I didn't get we were talking about perceived quality.
If you read the post, it was a statement that it wouldn't need to get heavier if it got bigger.
Also, it's 5/10g (5%) on phones that have a screen that's about 35% bigger diagonally (and no, it doesn't need to be that big, and NO I'm not making a point for phones THAT big, just clarifying that making it bigger doesn't mean making it heavier).

Naturally, if they want to keep the same level of perceived quality then bigger = heavier. To make it larger and lighter would lose that nice quality product feel, I guess in a similar way to the other phones in the table.

I wasn't being arsey but 5%/10%/20% extra, it's hardly an arm breaker is it.

Hmmm I agree that some Samsung designs feel "flimsy", but most HTC designs don't. I also agree that weight can give an impression of quality, but it's not necessary, look at the MacBook Air, or the bluetooth keyboard. All are very light for their size (which, you have to admit, the iPhone isn't), yet do would you say they feel of lesser quality than the iPhone? Or would you say the iPad 2 feels of lesser quality than the iPad 1 (20% heavier)?
Oh and indeed 5% isn't a lot, but that are much bigger phones. Look at the HTC One V, 3.7" (1.5mm wider, 5mm taller and just as thin as the 4S), comes in at 115g, which is almost 20% lighter, that's a big difference.

Well, as I set up playlists on iTunes, I thought I would have a look at this... And lo and behold, what did I find?

Top right...

Give it a name...

Add the songs you want.

Obviously another who complains endlessly about things, despite not actually bothering to look. I even checked on my brothers 4S and it can be done on there too.

I accept your apology on behalf of apple. wink

I had a look, and there it was... I wonder how he missed it if he was looking for it also?

I genuinely believe there's many a user who's afraid to click on something to see what it does (learning process!) in case it does something they think will cause them to have to restore the iDevice.
Maybe Apple needs a nagging option in Preferences, to hold their hand every step of the way, and once they feel confident they know what each function does/permits, then they can turn it off.

Anyone having issues with maintaining a call with the beta?

Have been running the beta for the past few days and on "long" calls that I have had, > 5mins, the call "hangs". In that the call seems to "pause" and the phone locks. I then have to type in the unlock code to get back to the home screen. Tap the green bar at the top and then the call resumes. It's happened two or three times now.

Have had a quick search of the Apple Dev forums but not noticed anything useful as yet.

Anyone else seen this?
