So, with a mobile history that faithfully followed Nokia 'till the 6130, then Blackberry 'till the bold and then iPhone ever since i have moved across to Android with a Galaxy 2 (the 3 just had a daftly big screen) I have been playing with it for a few days now, upgraded it to Jellybean, have got my key apps - preferred news sites, skype, dropbox, online banking youtwitface etc. What else MUST i have on my android device? And also, i have installed Samsung Kies but is there a "best" software for a PC (or mac) that does the stuff that iTunes does without me getting the burning desire to throw stuff out the window? (i do like the Genius feature on Itunes for making playlists) Alternatively if this has been done to death, please post links instead i did scroll back about 10 pages and did a futile attempt at the search function! Cheers!?

I found Mediamonkey an excellent replacement for iTunes.
In fact I only moved back to using iTunes when I got an iPad and iPod Touch because I wanted to back up the Apps etc.
I still use Mediamonkey for an old iPod Classic which is soldiering on as a mp3 player plugged into my car head unit's aux in.
There is a free version which has a huge amount of features, even more available in the Gold version.
I have Gold, but to be honest rarely use any of the Gold features.
Most certainly worth a look.
Just checked the latest release and now it does so much more with Media that I might look at using it for managing my iPad/iPod Touch except for the Apps.
I am NOT an iTunes fan.

John, every budding sailor must have Google Sky Map, awesome.... XE to check out what the dollar is doing against everything else. Google Earth just to confirm exactly where the f k you are after a heavy night out, (gets plenty of use) Singapore MTR Map to use in conjunction with above. Tunein Radio to listen to the radio stations all over the world , inc Radio 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and just about anything everywhere. WhatsApp for messaging. Kies Air for when you dont have any cables with you.

I am a bit further east at Changi! It's cheap! Huge rooms only S$200 during the week, S$250 at weekends - company I am visiting wants to keep the costs down. It is a very nice hotel and location, only takes between 15 and 50 mins to get into their office - depends on the weather Has a very nice bar, serving some very cold beer .... not too badly priced, comparable to UK hotel. I can even get cider, although only just ... it's Bulmers

Back on topic ...
Evernote is fast becoming a well used application on my Android phone, iPad and PC.
Document Scanner combined with Evernote is really useful. Use the camera on the phone to scan a document and send it to Evernote.
Just been playing with the trial. Will look for other similar apps before shelling out for the full version though.

Bulmers is becoming quite common here recently, two of the better places for (bottled) cider is the Col Bar in Portsdown, or the Cider Pit in Joo Chiat .... Have been messing about with evernote on my desktop recently so will give that a shuftie too! The scan with camera feature sounds useful!

Same as me, took delivery of my S2 last week so starting to customize it and then customize it again!
One question, is Jelly Bean now officially available from Samsung? Or is your phone rooted?

Jelly Bean is not officially available from anyone on any phone, not even Google has released it. Probably 2 weeks away for the Galaxy Nexus unless you're rooted and have flashed a rom based on the recently escaped builds.
