Mine is taking ages to charge now and is continually freezing. Any advice as to how to improve things?
Are these gen1 or gen2 N7s?

And have you tried clearing the cache out to try and stop the freezing?

Bugger. Had trouble switching on after switching off for a while. This time I pressed the button too hard and pushed it inside. My fault but it's knackered now. frown
Think I'll get another one though - it's been a good piece of kit.

The eldest daughters Nexus 7 developed a problem.

It switched itself off having just come off charge, will not switch back on, tried all of the tricks suggested by Google. Good old John Lewis 2yr warranty to the rescue.

I've been having trouble with my nexus 7 first generation. It's been passed down to my son, who has been using it for various learning games and the odd bit of cbeebies but it had become horribly slow. This had impacted the download speeds as well. Now I know about SSD's and TRIM and that it recently came into Android, so I had ruled that out as an issue as I'm running the latest factory image, until it got to the point I had to do some Googling around the subject.

The speed issue manifested itself as very slow wake up from sleep, black screens etc. etc.

Basically this http://apcmag.com/5-ways-to-speed-up-your-lagging-... or rather LagFix in the play store has completely transformed it back into its good old self.

I thought I'd share it...

Interesting, sounds similar to my Nexus 7 at times - horrendous lag when opening the keyboard/switching apps, refusing the wake from sleep etc. Currently running a recent CM11 milestone and so far its behaving itself but will give the above a try.

Also, regarding charging, my N7 was always been funny. Always takes ages (usually an overnight job) regardless of charge/cable combos and when plugging into a laptop always comes up 'USB device has malfunctioned'. Reckon the USB socket is knackered on mine...

Does anyone know where I can buy a genuine charger? It seems I cant get one from Currys PC World or anywhere like Argos?

Honest question, why would you get a genuine charger?
I never had any problems with 3rd party ones.

Only thing worth nothing is that tablet chargers are usually a bit more powerful (1.5 - 2.5A instead of 0.5-1.5A for phones).

Look at dx.com for a good deal, 6 weeks shipping but no cost and very cheap stuff. All work great for me.

Since the two recent updates, 4.4.4 being the latest, I can't login in to Pistonheads on either the mobile or desktop site on my N7 gen1. It takes my password etc, says you've logged in successfully, you tap on 'continue', then it takes you straight back to the home screen, you tap on Forums and it takes you round again.

My login still works on my desktop PC and others, but not the N7.

Anybody else getting this...?

Are you using the mobile (mobile.pistonheads, com) or the full (www.pistonheads.com)? I've noticed the mobile site has a habit of sending you in an infinite login loop...

I've tried both, just going round in bloody circles.

Update, the mobile site works now, desktop on the N7 doesn't.

Cheers anyway.

Can anyone explain the difference in these two, please? Other than 40 quid of course!

The more expensive is the 4G version ie it takes a SIM card and can use mobile data when you're out and about.

Personally though I take great exception to the idea that it contains a 'hard drive' so I would take my business elsewhere (but then I'm petty like that).

Thanks! That would make sense except that the cheaper one states 4G in the headline and the desdcription and the more expensive one doesn't! confused

That's a very good point! Assuming it's right then it would seem the 4G version is a bit of a bargain at that price.

I have 2013 running Official 4.4.4 KTU84P

This is the second one I have had as I took the first back after a week because it had the well known over sensitive touch screen - however I have had this one now since late last year and within the last 3-4 months it has started locking up quite often when trying to power back on. I either get a multi coloured noise screen (like an analogue tv with no signal except multi-coloured) or a very corrupted background screen this has happened over the last few updates (i.e. the updates have not fixed it) and every time I have tried factory reset and App cache clear which appears to work for a while and then the problem reoccurs - I am wondering whether the storage has got issues and when a bad 'sector' or cell so to speak is hit it dies. It can recover from the lockup but takes a while.

It is correct, I ordered one two weeks ago from them at the same price £199.

I was anticipating something to be wrong, old model/refurbished etc. But a correct one turned up brand new in a sealed box.

Easily the cheapest that I could find for the LTE model.

i've got a nexus 7 someone can have for £30 exc postage if they can workout how to fix it.

It currently doesn't turn on. It's a first gen 16gb in mint condition. I haven't the time to fix it so am happy to sell it onto a good home.

It comes with the box and charger.

PM me if interested.
