My 2013 has good days and bad days since Lolliflop, even with the cache cleared out very regularly.

It never missed a beat with KitKat, now it does my head in when you touch something on the screen and it sits there like it's using the slowest processor in the world with 500MB of f*cking ram.

Surely there must be some bug fixes for the OS out soon.
You can see here https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images ,once they appear here, wont be long before the updates hit your device.

Chaps,

Is Kitkat generally the best for dunking into your mocha version for the 1st Gen Nexus 7?

Or is it worth trying one of the Cyanogenmod ROMs (latest stable seems to be 10.2 / 4.3). It's just for my old man's N7, which is getting a big laggy with 5.1 now.

Chaps,

My 2012N7 is still running KitKat but like an absolute shed. It hasn't been reset for a while so was going to do that this afternoon.

What's the best way of backing up - I was just going to copy everything off onto my PC, but draggin/dropping it just seems to stop after a few files, not sure why. Anybody else had this problem?

OK, I reset my 2012 N7.

It still runs like a shed! What is slowing it down? Haven't installed too much again, the GUI is really sluggish.

I am running 4.4.4

Have you been using something else as well, something newer that is faster and gives the impression that your N7 is slower and not as you remember it?

I have a nexus 5 as well, but I used my N7 daily for months and it was much zippier. I assumed I had something that was slowing it down and a reset would cure but it's the same...

Don't know what you chaps have done to yours, but mine runs like clockwork on KitKat.

It is in use everyday.

The only thing I've got on my Nexus 7 now is a Kindle App. It takes 10 minutes to start and then I'm lucky if it will actually open the app. Never again.

You probably have done a hard reboot using the power n volume button! Your memory in the N7 may be screwed and any reboot may not make any difference but worth a try! It does sound wierd! I here the Nexus 6 has great reviews I blame android and app writers make software for modern super cpu not good writing!

I did a factory reset, completely wiped it and started again. No change. It's nothing more than a table mat really. I can't believe that a piece of technology can be rendered utterly useless by 'updates'. Not even Apple manage to do it so quickly and completely.

Anyone know if 5.1 has gone back to allowing ethernet cable access? It went with lollipop initially so would be good to have access that way.

With my 2012 I'm currently faced with either accepting the latest st that Google vomits out OTA or biting the bullet and flashing back to KitKat. I'll give it one more update.
