Very mixed report on how people like lolipop! Dont mind it so far, taking a while before the apps catch up!

I mean Lolipop trashed my 2012 N7 so I'm not overly bothered about an upgrade at the moment smile Sorry, didn't mean to be narky, it just amused me, I loved my N7 until Lolipop

Sticking up for Lollipop, with a full reset it's cured the worst of the stutter on my very early 8GB 2012 N7. This is affected by lag in ways that my son's much later (Dec 2012) 32GB one definitely isn't.

If I change background processes to none it's pretty slick, actually.

I've bitten the bullet and ordered a Hudl 2. Is there a market for the 2012 N7 if I wanted to flog it on? Presumably it's still a good tablet for someone who can root it?

I am now so glad now that I kept my 2012 Nexus 7 on Kitkat.

I really wish I hadn't done mine, I stupidly updated both my 4 and 7 at the same time at 10.30 at night and it took me another two hours to get anything reconnected to the WiFi.

My N7 was trashed by Kitkat, lett alone lollipop laughirked Oddly though, my old man's 2012 N7 seems to have survived the lollipop upgrade, sure it's not super responsive but not as bad as mine was.

My Dads early 8GB N7 was so slow that there was a few seconds lag after every keypress or screen touch. Totally unusable. This was with kitkat installed I allowed it to update to lolipop and still the same dreadful user experience. After a couple of hardware resets however it's transformed and runs perfectly well.

My 2013 N7 is running great on 5.0.2 although annoyingly the auto-rotate seems to stop working every once in a while. I've had the back off to do the 'fix' but it's not that, nor is it the magnetic case with 'auto-off', it seems to do it even out of the case.. A restart usually solves it but it's getting to be a bit annoying, I must say. It's not a Lollipop issue either, as it was doing it on KitKat too.

One thing I have noticed is how little I actually use it though; I don't think I'd buy another one as my M8 does everything the tablet does. It's only a couple of inches smaller and isn't in any way a 'lesser experience' for it.

Mine was. It was great with Jellybean - never more so than with the original 4.1 mind you - but never recovered under KitKat, being laggy to the point of uselessness, even after a full reset. With Lollipop though it's finally back to being usable.

Trouble is, with a 4.7" phone nowadays it rarely gets any use.

Evening.

Apologies if this has been asked before...

I got my 4G 2013 7 from EE - will it be locked? or did they only do them unlocked?

Cheers.

Anyone know if there's a source for Ubuntu Touch for the 1st Gen? I have got 13.04 on a 2012 7, but cannot locate a source for the depreciated line. Don't want to hack my 2nd Gen, but Touch on the N4 is so impressive my son took his old phone back.

My 2012N7 was fine under KitKat. But Lollipop has definitely screwed it over.

One thing that has made it worse is enabling a second profile. Switching to the second profile loses 200mb ram (circa 600mb before, 400mb when on second profile). Switching back, you've still lost the memory.

Latest update has made it slightly less bad, but it is still ridiculously slow in most UI operations. Individual applications seem to be generally fine.

I've deleted just about everything off my first Gen one and use it purely as a Kindle now. Still takes ages to start up and load, but just about useable. Definitely wouldn't buy another.

My 2013 has good days and bad days since Lolliflop, even with the cache cleared out very regularly.

It never missed a beat with KitKat, now it does my head in when you touch something on the screen and it sits there like it's using the slowest processor in the world with 500MB of f*cking ram.

Surely there must be some bug fixes for the OS out soon.

Tis wierd this review of the Nexus 6 seems like an improvement and a half!

http://www.itproportal.com/2015/03/25/nexus-6-revi...

My orig 7 has also good and bad days! I think the apps are cause of some the problems in the programming quality. I cant get BBCIplayer working atm!
