How come it's cheaper to buy it in a box posted to my house from a third party company (Amazon) than download it straight from Adobe? Makes no sense. Are there any cheaper ways of buying it?

But don't look for sense from Adobe - you'll be looking a long time You might be able to get an OEM copy with some hardware (often an older version) - which can workout cheaper if you were buying hardware anyway (I got a copy with my graphics tablet)

If you are buying from Adobe, the price difference is down to VAT rates.
For the UK, they are based in the Republic of Ireland, so VAT on downloads is 23%. If you get the boxed version, I suppose that it's shipped from within the UK, so VAT is 'only' 20%.
I suppose Amazon can charge what they like (within reason?).
