Switched the PC on this morning, launched Google Chrome as I do every morning and the blimmin thing crashes every single time!

Tried re-booting, didn't work, and that's the extent of my IT knowledge.

Any suggestions?

Any specific websites it tries opening on load?

What kind of crash? Does it notifies you of something or just closes itself?

You can use this page to try and run it without extensions:

It opens on Google.com and crashes instantly with the message:

"Whoa, Google Chrome has crashed. Relaunch now?"

If I click ok there's a pause, then it comes up with "Google Chrome is unresponsive. Want to relaunch now?"

Press ok to that and it disappears completely.

As you've turned it off and on again, next step is to remove chrome, reboot again and reinstall. yes

Tried it again and there was a bar at the top saying that it hadn't opened properly last time, did I want to restore previous session (despite the fact that the "crash box" had appeared again).

So I pressed it and it seems to be working fine now.

I had that on my work computer last week. I used Internet Explorer then, next day I forgot all about the crashes, loaded Chrome up and it worked fine, havent had another problem since smile

Very odd.

I know chrome keeps itself up-to-date, but which version?
My Windows version is at 21.0.1180.60 - I've had no such issues. Yet.

Yep Chrome has had it for me today. FUBAR.

The problem is, it automatically updates, so I assume it has updated to a duff version.

Windows7 o/s.

If the problem is affecting all the browsers you try, but all the rest of your applications are running normally, then the first thing I'd check is your Internet connection. Are other devices having problems?

OK. Deleted all history, deleted my user profile on Chrome and everything appears to be working brilliantly.....except Pistonheads. Why would one website crash a browser?

All I have to do is load any Pistonheads page and it freezes the browser. Odd.

Weird. If the problem is specific to one website, might be worth getting Chrome to delete any cached data and cookies.

Another vote for clearing your cache

Done, multiple times. Also removed all chrome extensions and re-installed the program. Problem persists. Doing my nut in.

Try creating a new (additional) user account and see if the same issues occur.

Which ad-blocker(s) do you use? PH is pretty heavy on adverts so I'd suspect something in that area.
FWIW I use Adblock Super, FlashBlock and Ghostery and PH is one of the better performing site I regularly use,
