Heres a screen shot of the App store home page today.. "find maps for your iphone" link suddenly appeared..

That explains why my app sales have suddenly plummeted - until yesterday that was a link to the Education section where one of my apps was being promoted by Apple. With the link gone, sales have really dropped. bugger frown

Edit: The links moved down the list not gone, still annoying though.

Not really, I think most people appreciate he's apologised for a poor app, after all, Apple aren't infallible and burying their head in the sand is hardly going to help.

Although they've done just this with YouTube. Gone as an apple app, back as a YouTube native app, and with no ad delivery mechanic to monetize all that bandwidth delivery.
Just had a pre selection video ad served in the YT app with a "skip this ad in 5" button..

I've decided i'm going to Jailbreak my iPod, but the Dev Team website says that the current version is only recommended for developer use because it is tethered and very buggy.

Does anyone know the average time it's going to take for the whole version to be released? I'm new to Jailbreaking and have no idea.

Thanks.

I did a tethered jailbreak on a 3GS with ios6 yesterday using redsn0w, seems fine. I'm just testing with it and it's not a main phone, but there werent any problems.

Could you post a link to the site you used?

I'm passing my 3GS onto SWMBO but need to re-jailbreak it first to unlock it for her sim (different network).

Cook's letter advises uses to use Google Maps via Safari until they've sorted it
But thats bullst. Yes you can use a browser and google maps, but every app on the iPhone that relies on the OS's maps now uses applemaps. You cant get them to use google maps..

Google maps can also fail though.

At the roundabout, go up. I thought the journey time seemed long. hehe
Hope you've fuelled the Harrier for that trip!

Via the browser videos don't go fullscreen if the app isn't installed, the status bar and top address bar is still shown (unless I'm doing it wrong smile)
See if the same is true of the desktop site version - remove the m. bit in the url there.
If you're on iOS 6, Safari should be able to go fullscreen without anything displayed but the content.

The company seems to be doing enough apologising on its own.

For those that follow the machinations of the fruity company, this can't do Scott Forstall's prospects much good.

Yes but being tethered isn't very practical and you have to install Cydia afterwards.

How long will i be waiting for the new updated iOS6 Jailbreak to come out because there's not much activity on the website or anything?

Would it be worth downgrading back to iOS5.1.1 and hacking that instead?

Hope someone can help me please. smile

This is right on the money. Google is very good at this, because they've spent a long time, a lot of money and time making it so good. And guess who Cupertino are hiring?

ApplyMaps will be great (and I say this as an Android user), but I suspect it will cost Apple a lot of money to make it better quickly.
Lucky they've got truckloads of the stuff then!

It's got the potential to be a great product. The flyover tool is astoundingly good on central London.

The thing is apple maps will have a small user base compared to Google Maps, they are 2 completely different business models.

I think Apple Maps is unsustainable as it doesn't pay for itself.

Agreed...but it's there and working. I'd give it a week or so, keep an eye on the Absinthe website, they reckon they've done it untethered on older hardware

How do you think google maps is paid for? How do you think Nokia maps is paid for? Bing maps?

Google - ads

The other 2 have such a small market share, it doesn't really matter.

Apple seem to harp on about more people using it will make it better.

Unfortunately the competition have EVEN MORE people using their products.

iOS is not a mediocre market share.
