Good news - hopefully that means that stock may start re-appearing on their site once they have cleared the current back-log.

I have a worry that LG are deliberately supplying the "normal" mobile operators first, possibly selling units at a higher price....

I have no basis for that worry - but if O2/Carphone etc can sell them for £400 a go, then they may well be paying LG more than google at £270 a go. I know Google aren't charging any profit, but is the full £130 going straight to o2!? I doubt it...
Why not? How much do you think it costs the manufacturers to produce such a device? Certainly not £270 or more that's for sure. I'm sceptical that o2 would pay more than what google would sell them for - but I could be wrong.

Finally making a post from my nexus 4 after the backorder fiasco!

It's a funky device and you can with it being vanilla android and coming from a HTC I can definitely see where HTC sense was added in... I think I will miss the windscreen wiper across the screen when the weather app says rain bit apart from that I like it!

A total bargain at Google play prices... Even at CPW price too.
Beautiful Widgets has the windscreen wiper in, in the forecast view wink

Yeah I'd be interested to hear it.

I was going to get one, but ended up getting the Note 2 instead. My mate, who also owned a Galaxy Nexus like myself got one but didn't exactly give it a glowing report, saying that although it was very fast, the screen was "pale" and the battery life was "terrible".

I have a feeling I'd like it, but I'd be disappointed with the battery life after the Note 2 (easily 6 - 9 hours screen on time per charge), and the camera and lack of storage (I've got 70 Gb storage on the Note 2).

I love the Note, but it's too big for me for a number of reasons (mostly my dock on the bike would only just fit an S3 :/), I read somewhere that Samsung might be considering dropping Amoled for the time being, as the production process would be too expensive/impossible for 1080p at the time.
I hope they don't I'm much rather have a 200dpi amoled than any 300+dpi ips I've seen so far.
That would be a shame.

AMOLED screens recently have had some bad press for "over-saturated" colours and the like. Maybe that is true, but to my eyes, AMOLED screens are so much prettier and appealing to my eyes, regardless of the accuracy of them. My N2 may not be over 300 PPI but its plenty and it looks gorgeous. In particular, the blacks are very appealing.

indeed, I don't get this, the only thing you can say about that is that it's not realistic. Well, it's a multimedia device, just like HDR pictures, supermodels, movies, what's wrong with being "larger than life"? Or in this case, more vibrant?

If I want realism I'll look out of a window, if I want a gorgeous screen, I'll keep to Amoled. However, with the latest batch of screens (HTC One X in particular), they do get very pretty. However, when the SGS2 was launched, most equivalent screens looked a bit "washed" out in comparison (even the iPhone 4, one of the best IPS screens at the time).
yes

At the end of the day as you say, its a phone, a multimedia device. I don't need calibrated colours on it as it's totally unnecessary IMO. If its pleasing to my eyes, then its pleased me. I agree on the One X though, very good screen. I've also got an IPS monitor at home that is very vibrant, I think LCD is getting better. That said, I always felt my Nexus 7 screen looked quite washed out.

I went from an iPhone 4 to my SGS2 and I didn't feel it was in any way a downgrade, yes it was less sharp but it also was bigger, better contrast and blacks and more vibrant. Horses for courses.

Standby and screen on time would be helpful. My Galaxy Nexus wasn't great, that thing would get through the day with about 2-2.5 hours screen on time, and about 16 hours screen off / standby.

You can check this in the Battery stats in your settings.

I have heard some say its worse than the HTC One X which was one of the most battery unfriendly smartphones available, so you could be right.

A Google search should reveal how to screenshot (I can't help as I don't have one).

You could have a rogue app. Try the app CPU spy to see if it is. But it could just be crap. My Galaxy nexus would get me through a day of moderate use. Can yours?

It really has been a massive balls up from start to finish. From how badly "kept secret" it was before its launch, to these supply issues. I do wonder if it was done deliberately for some reason, but if it was, I can't figure out why they would do that.

I would probably have been using one, despite its shortfalls, had it actually been available. Now, I probably never will. Shame, as I've had a few Nexus devices now.

Well has anybody else got any feedback on battery life?
There's a magical place called google and in this place can be found all manner of these things you call reviews and feedback.
That being so, let's stop posting on discussion forums altogether then. After all - there's a magical place called Google where no human interaction is needed.
yes

If we didn't discuss stuff, there wouldn't actually be anything to find on google.

Also, not everything you find out on google is very helpful. Some will say 'battery life = brilliant, get 2 days out of it'. Then you dig deeper, and find they made 2 phone calls and half a dozen texts on it and that was it.

But as a general rule for most smartphones - you'll be charging them every day in most circumstances.

And as for those who are annoyed about delivery, I understand your frustrations, if its any consolation my now broken Galaxy Note 2 needs to be sent to Samsung, and I really can't see me getting it back before the new year. As nice as a Nokia Lumia 800 is for the money, its not a patch on that.

So far my only gripe is the lack of text re-flow in the browser. Coming from an HTC Desire, I really miss that.

Also, I have to say, I don't find touchwiz bad at all, which kinda surprised me as it gets a lot of negative press.
Text reflow in the browser is IIRC (forgive me as I don't have my GNote as its fked) enabled in the browser settings. For some reason, Samsung disabled it by default.

As for TouchWiz, I find it a little visually ropey in places, but it is a lot better than it used to be. Moreover, it seems to be the fashion to "hate" TouchWiz, Sense, et al in favour of Vanilla stuff like the Nexus, however, it can add a lot of useful functionality.

I just went into our local Vodafone store and they swapped me from an old standard SIM to a micro SIM instantly and for free. I was very impressed.
As did I, thought I would have to wait a couple of days! I was standing there like...Is that it?

Thing is, they've dropped a right old bk here. By the time they're widely available for your average every day bloke in the street, something newer / better / cheaper will probably be available.

Thing is I was bang on certain to get one until this and then I ended up with something else, how many other folks have opted for other handsets thanks to this cock up?

Have you got it back yet?
No I've only just sent it off today. Had best part of a week wait just to get the pre-paid packaging to send it back. Now I can expect up to a 10 business day wait to get it back. I'm not expecting to see it back now until the end of the first week of the new year, which I'm not exactly delighted about to say the least.

Try a factory reset, if that doesn't work, return it.

I'm on T-Mobile PAYG. I'll go into a T-Mobile shop (none local to me though, which is annoying) and see if I can get a new Micro SIM with the same number.

So glad that I don't have to send my Nexus back, though. smile
Get ready for those tight fisted gits to charge you a tenner for the privelidge though, just as I had to when I got the MicroSIM for my GNoteII.
