I've just ordered a Moto X @ £229 direct from Motorola to replace my Nexus 4.

As with any phone reviews are mixed, battery being the main concern, but I've been pissing around for so long and just happened to look at the Motorola website and at that price it seemed too good to turn down tbh.

I just looked on the motorola website and the cheapest moto X is £329. Did you mistype or where are they for £229?

Nope, they were £229 on special until 23:59 last night - they're back at £395 now for the 2nd gen.

Just done a system wipe as I had massive battery drain / switch off issues over the last week. Partition cache clearing did nothing. Fingers crossed this works otherwise it's a new battery and then, if that fails, a second hand Nexus 5, I think! frown

My Nexus 5 battery life (iirc the phone is < 2 years old) is pretty poor now. A second hand phone might be taking a risk.

I bought a new 3rd gen Moto G for the missus recently, and it's not a bad phone. A cool feature is you can immerse it in water.

hehe Not something I'll be trying to do, but good to know!

My thoughts are driven by budget and a hatred of bloatware. Some resellers still offer a 12 month warranty on second hand phones, so I'm looking there.

That's the nice thing about the Moto G - pretty much stock & quick to receive updates. 150 notes or less.

The immersion feature was a "nice to have" feature - she has dropped a phone in the loo.

hehe I'd've thought they'd be grateful for someone to pay the postage to get them out of the way and free up the shelf space.

Thanks, that's a good price. About the same as en Entertainment Exchange condition A second hand phone (what I am currently leaning towards). Is that really a new phone? Have you used them and, if so, how would you rate them? Their warranty amounts to ~10.5 months and doesn't cover batteries.

Well I finally gave up on the G3S, slow laggy and frustrating. Reolaced it with..... Nexus 5x.
Slightly bigger but does everythignI want like the G4 did. Running Android 6 as well which is fairly slick. Still getting the odd "xxx has stopped" but would expect that to be sorted with an update. Sim free from Carphone wehouse they are £349 for the 32GB version - cheaper than from Google!

To round things out, I ended up selling my Nexus 4 to Entertainment Exchange. I was honest about the battery drain, but it passed their tests so they were willing to pay good money for it. I then went on their website and purchased, with one year's warranty, another Nexus 4! Pre-loaded with Lollipop, I've had no issues and it cost me a grand total of £40. biggrin Happy days.

Still happily using my N4. Keep thinking about replacing it but apart from the lack of 4G (for which there are too few opportunities where I can take advantage), I'm quite happy with it.

I am glad they have offered a cheaper one to the previous Nexus 6 though - I feared Google had decided to abandon that particular sector of the market altogether. I love vanilla Android but not at that price. Cyanogen might have found a customer in me.

5X has been solid performer for me. No issues at all and +5 days* on a charge, which takes less than an hour with the 3AMP charger supplied.
