LG Google Nexus 4
Discussion
I think if this thing has a half decent camera, decent SQ from the headphone port and is as fast as the Quad Core internals make you think it is, this will be my next phone.
The clincher? £239 for the 8 Gb model and £279 for the 16 Gb model. Yep, thats SIM free!!
Unbelievable value for a quad core beast like that.
I wasn't that bothered about it until I read the price.

Looks like great value for sure.
Specs are up there with the best of them, and it will be nice to get updates direct from Google for the next couple of years.
The nexus 10 also looks like good value, the Play store is just missing the sort of selection of tablet apps that the iPad offers (and people constantly seem to say 'just wait, they will be along soon'.)

I've just bought a Nexus 7 32gb tablet today and I'm very tempted by the Nexus 4.
Might try and make do with the old Desire for a couple of months and see if contract prices come down...unless anyone knows of a cheap SIM only deal with decent (500mb+) data connection to run alongside the Nexus 4?

I was just going to make a thread about it.
Having followed most of the leaks over the past month, I was set on getting this when it's upgrade time in December; I was prepared to pay £420 for the 16GB handset.
Considering the the high-end internals, 1280x768 screen and what I understand to be Gorilla Glass on the back, one would have thought the pricing of this would be nearer the figure above. The only reasons I can see for Google and LG to be running such slim margins on this phone are:
Google wants to make a splash in the realm of the average consumer market, rather than (like previous Nexuses) aiming this just at the nerd/power-users.
They've recently released their tablets and want to push people into the Google ecosystem and feel once they're in they'll be easily retained (a la Apple).
LG devices, despite being great pieces of hardware, haven't been able to penetrate the market against Samsung/HTC branded devices and therefore feel this is an opportunity to be pushed into the lime-light on the the back of the Nexus brand even if they don't make much profit from the Nexus 4 itself.
End result
: Google draw more people into the Nexus brand (and subsequently their online services).
: An LG device receives huge exposure and therefore sets their future handsets in better stead against the competition.

So is the Samsung Galaxy S3 really worth £130+ more than this?
My brother was just about to order one this evening, but now he's very confused!!
I would say the biggest difference is the microSD card slot. I've got a 64gb card in my S3 to hold my music collection. If you were just going to use an S3 with its internal memory I'd inclined to say no, its not worth it.My brother was just about to order one this evening, but now he's very confused!!

That's great value!
I love my galaxy nexus and don't know why there are so few people who use them.

I would say not. My girlfriend has the s3 and I've got the galaxy nexus. Despite the fact that the s3 on paper leaves the nexus in the dust, my nexus is faster in day to day use than hers even with the jelly bean update. This will be quicker again. My brother was just about to order one this evening, but now he's very confused!!

It seems Google wants to push users to utilize their cloud services more rather than relying on internal storage. Though for people with poor 3G coverage (this has no LTE) and a limited data plan, that is easier said than done.
exactly, even in central London you can't always get a good 3g signal and with data caps in place it's not a realistic option to shove everything in the cloud. Documents fine...music? video? it will eat your data plan alive!!steedy27 said:
Will be ordering this when its available for preorder or shipping, £279 - £150 for my S2 is £129 thats amazing. Think i will go for the wireless charging device aswell, will anyone else?
Not 100% on getting a Nexus 4 but if I do then I will be getting at least one wireless charging pad.ApexJimi said:
LG are a bit of an unknown entity to me - what is the quality of their stuff like? Comparable to the likes of HTC etc?
ETA - and at £239..... strikes me as being worryingly cheap.

Only real criticism of it is that it has just been released too late compared to the competition from HTC and Samsung.
The only real complaint I've heard of LG devices is that their software is sub par, considering this is running pure Google Android this won't translate to mean too much (hopefully, I think LG will still code the drivers).
