nova launcher is the start, zooper widgets also cool for customising

Hidden zones/clock widget using Zooper Widget pro (although I also have Beautiful Widgets, Minimalist Text and UCCW for widgets - I'm a very casual user though so just pick the one closest to what I want.)

2013 Nexus 7 + Nexus 4 > Note TBH.
