Anyone pre-ordered one of these?

I have. Looks a great phone, phablet size, but thin. 1080P display, 13 MP camera, should play music well too. Hopefully I'll be one of the first 1000 so I'll get the free headphones. If they are any good I'll keep em if not they go on the bay and thats a few quid off my contract.

Going with 3 hope they are OK. £36 ppm but I get unlimited data and tethering so I feel I'm getting a decent enough deal for my money.
Yep smile white one on O2 through CPW. I plan to eBay the headphones as soon as I get them though.

Very excited biggrin

I ordered mine yesterday as an upgrade with 3. Hopefully will qualify for the free Sony headphone offer. Anyone tried the accompanying smart watch?

That looks like a fecking brilliant gadget biggrin I'd much rather have the Bluetooth G-Shock though but Android doesn't yet support Bluetooth 4.0...

I ended up cancelling. I'm going to stick with the note 2 which I own outright and enjoy lower monthly bills. The larger screen on the Note has swayed me e too as I use it as a tablet in the house too.

My tuppence's worth: I have a Sony Xperia U (baby brother) which seemed excellent on paper as well. I saw it in a shop and it seemed acceptable.

Having had the 'phone for a while I can confirm that it is utter trash. Orange have been helpful, sending me a replacement handset and SIM card. The problems persist. Erratic functioning, calls dropped, poor sound quality, errors such as showing me that someone is calling me but not giving me a button to answer the call, exceptionally poor GPS reception, very poor data reception, failure to pick up a WiFi point it is less than 2 inches from etc etc etc.

I sincerely hope that the Z is better than mine. But then, I'd sincerely hope that something this crap never made it to the marketplace.

Oli.
Same here crap phone nothing but problems from day one with countless replacement handsets.

Now have an S3. Rumour of an S4 next month. I've been very happy with the S3 even though it feels very cheap.

Would be very wary of the Sony after that debacle.

I've had the Xperia S now for 7 months and have been very impressed with it. It's specs are brilliant for what I am paying and the screen is it's best feature: it's just the right size and still has a higher resolution than the Galaxy S3 or Iphone 5. Recent updates to the software appear to have also improved the battery life which was once it's only niggle. I would be getting the Xperia Z if my contract was expiring soon, may need to talk to O2 about upgrading.

Looks awesome, really nice hardware design. Would definitely be on my purchase list if I didn't have a Nexus 4.

I'm actually quite glad the Nexus 4 was out of stock for so long now - I'd have had one on launch day and then been gutted not to have this. I know it's not vanilla android but Sony have been superb about releasing their source code for developers to work on and their updates have been getting more timely.

Quite hopeful of getting JB 4.2 soon after the phone is released, and hopefully KLP by the end of the year.

Upgrade to Xperia Z ordered from CPW on Thursday last week. £35 a month, no upfront cost for the phone and will definitely be getting the headphone pre-order gift.

For anyone who hasn't seen the headphones there is a review here.

I won't be using them when out and about as have decent IEM's (Shure) but should be great for listening at home.

The 28th can't come quick enough now...

I had a quick look at the dummy version in CPW last week to try it out for size - felt okay to me, certainly no bigger in the hand than the S3. Made the fatal error of giving my details to a Vodafone sales person so they could let me know when the had one in to actually demo and then received 5 or 6 calls over the next 24 hours from Vodafone trying to flog me a Galaxy S3 rolleyes

How can you confirm you're definitely getting the headphones? I ordered through Carphone Warehouse today online; I have no idea whether I'm in the first 1000 or not. Still got a good deal and I don't want another set of headphones anyway.

It's been confirmed ALL Xperia Z pre-orders will get the free headphones, not just the first 1000 on each network as originally thought.

Is this going to take on the Note II?

I really liked the look of their smaller stuff, but was sold on the whizz bang of the Note II. If Sony had a rival phone I'd have gone for it.

I decided to keep my note 2 and cancel the preorder for a few reasons. The bigger screen of the note 2, I think it will be a touch quicker in the real world due to less pixels on the screen to push and really a 720 display is more than good enough for a device this size and finally I own my note 2 outright so didn't want to be tied into a 24 month contract when I could get by for a tenner a month with this.

It will surely be a very nice phone though.

Did it in the store, headphones confirmed on receipt as "gift" and by the girl in the store who checked for me. They will be delivered to the store for pickup along with the phone on the 28th. When I checked on their website beforehand there were 2 different deals, 1 with the headphones and 1 without.

Why would you possibly not want a free set of £2-300 headphones, even if you decided to sell them on eBay?
