XiaoMi - 'nuff said
XiaoMi and Huawei, amongst others, are hardly "no-name" phones. Their prices are multiples of the phones mentioned in this thread as well.

Yeah I suppose so, but then it's again subjective when you're talking about "no-name".

A lot of the other phones that are mentioned actually have the same following if not even more so in the Asian market.

But you're right in the sense that Xiaomi and Huawei are priced at a premium.

Agreed, depends where you draw the line.

I beg to differ.

The phone mentioned by the op isn't great for £190. Moto G much better. ROf I were in China I would buy as many xiaomi mi's as I could.

I keep looking at the Landvo L800. Is it any good?
Any idea how this 2 SIM thing works? I have seen it on quite a number of these Chinese phones. How does it swap from one to another?
It'll probably have both running at the same time. I got an iNew V3 about 9 months ago as I'm working in Africa and was sick of carrying 3(!) phones around. This dual sim handset took both my full-size company voice sim and my personal micro sim and it runs them at the same time - no need to switch. It simply asks Which sim you want to use each to,e you send a text or make a call. I like the phone; very similar to the Samsung range in terms of OS interface. The screen has scratched very easily though - I never realised how effective gorilla glass is until I had this phone.

there was an article about Chinese phones having hardwired spyware in the phone, that records user data. The thing is these phones are not made to standards such as Sony for example and open to problems.

Hmmm. I did wonder that as well. Still for the price I suppose its almost a throwaway product.

Yes, I saw that as well. Oddly it did mention the Landvo and the skyware was in the browser.

From what I understand people root the phone (still no idea what this means or why you need to do it!) and remove the browser and re-install your own.

I just love the names that they call them. It was a close call to buy the s9500 or a M-horse!

Before the Moto G came out I got a Huawei G300 for my Aunt, seemed like a cracking phone for the price.

Tempted by one of these

http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/big-phone-alright-...

It's no match for a Nexus 4 etc. but over the Atrix 4G I'm currently using it has a bigger screen (low resolution granted, but that doesn't really concern me) and has a Android version starting with a '4' (unofficial kitkat ROM are available on the Atrix, but these don't run anything as well as the gingerbread ROMs).

I've had a few Chinese androids.

One was great but I broke it.

Current one is a Cubot S200.

Very good phone, excellent camera etc. I am struggling to see why anyone would pay more than £80 for a smart phone.

On battery life it's plenty good enough - compares well to colleagues iphones/samsungs etc.

The above specs have been trounced by the recent set of chinese market phones.

You can get 2/3GB ram , quad/octacore and 1080p screens for similar money

Pretty well the entire UK phone system (fixed and mobile) is dependent on Chinese kit from Huawei.

There was a bit of an uproar recently when it was discovered that the UK firm the Government appointed to make sure the kit isn't dodgy is entirely staffed by Huawei employees.

I just bought the Jiayu S3 - Octacore, 3Gb, dual sim 4g, 5.5" HD screen.... its a pretty awesome bit of kit for the money. I paid £180 to get it through Amazon Prime, but can go a fair bit lower if buying from China etc. The other option was the Ecoo E04 Aurora, but can't get it from shops in Europe, only China.... but am in China later this year so will take a look at their new E05 when over there smile
