I've owned many high end phones, the Nexus 4 is my keeper, make of that what you will.

Powerful processor, nice looks, lots of RAM, great Operating system, decent camera, bargain price. Can't see why anyone would think it was crap.

Don't feed the troll.
Better than a Note 2?

Not sure I'd say better but I prefer it as a phone. Note 2 was a little too big for my tastes. I'd be happy to have the screen quality, headphone audio quality and battery life but my 2013 n7 delivers this and then some, and the pair of nexus and tablet is probably cheaper too.

8gb unit is out of stock (and has been for a while and i read not going to be restocked). so if you want one (16gb) buy it now, comes in around £209 with delivery and is a bargain for a sim free phone.

A note 2 is a beast of a device, but you have to have it for some USP:

  • Huge screen
  • Stylus input with some dedicated applications
  • Very high-end specs
Compared to the N4

  • Vanilla Android
  • Amazing bang for buck
It's all a matter of pick your poison. Both are great phones and both have their pros and cons. The camera for example on the Note 2 eclipses the one on the N4 as well, but the N4's is "adequate". The price of the N4 otoh makes it very very hard to ignore.
There's a great deal of satisfaction to be had of having a superior user experience for minimal cost, or maybe that's just me biggrin.

My wife had the nexus 4 for a good months, and I must say, as an avid android user, was expecting alot, as was my wife, but it left me hugely disappointed.

Not a patch on the galaxy s3 (imo),not even as good as the s2!....
best was of describing it would be that it just 'left me cold' when using it.

A Nexus 4 looked gigantic next to my Nokia 620. How will the 5 look?
N5 (if the rumours and photos are to be believed) is no bigger than the N4. Biggers screen and smaller bezels by all accounts

yes

Much like the S3 -> S4 evolution.

According to this article, some details of the phone were confirmed after an official press shot of it was leaked yesterday. Nothing too revealing, but a good indicator on size.

Thanks for the responses chaps.

Still a little wary about the glass randomly cracking. It is also this which puts me off the Sony Z1 a little too, a shame as it's a beautiful piece of kit.

Is that because of the speed of the phone or the Samsung Applications and user interface?

It can't have been for the speed as my gf has an sgs3 and it's noticeably slower as you would expect from having a slightly slower CPU, half as much ram and tons of bloatware. Saying that the screen on the sgs3 is a bit bigger and it has expandable storage and a slightly better camera. Horses for courses I suppose.

Most educated guesses are that it'll be a rebranded LG G2, which sounds amazing tbh:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBeFfWUdseI

Short spec list:

Nexus 4 G2
Display size 4.7" "5.2
res 1280x768 1920x1080
Width 69mm 71mm
Thickness 9.1mm 8.9mm

So that's a LOT of screen estate for a marginal sacrifice in size imho (weight will be the same), if they keep to the G2.
It'll be to big for many but it does sounds like an amazing prospect, depending on price.

Agghhh it's getting bigger. I know it's not much bigger, but the big Samsung's scare me. Like holding a tablet to your face, Phablet has been heard before. I found the Nexus 4 big when I ditched my iPhone 3GS for it.

How big a screen do you really need is the million pound question?

You are not alone. I want a smaller screen. I have a Nexus 7 for anything that needs real estate - give me a Nexus 3 to go with it Google!

I'd say the 5" screen on my Xperia Z is around perfect, big enough to see everything clearly and get lots of detail (1080p helps here), but not too big to use as a phone. It is right on the limit on the second part, mind.

As for the Nexus 5, looks an impressive bit of kit if it's based on the G2. the Nexus kit is probably my 2nd preference in Android World, after the Xperias. The lure of rapid upgrades is strong, but I prefer the Sony added apps and UI, plus I like Nexus Users beta testing the latest Android release for me smile

It sounds a little big to me.

I'm used to (and very happy with) my N4 now but it's actually about 3mm too wide to comfortably get my thumb from one side to the other without about 9 months of practice smile

I'm not sure its going to be any bigger than the Nexus 4, although its internals might be based on the G2, all the "leaks" etc it seems like it will be a smaller 5" screen, and overall marginally smaller than the Nexus 4
http://www.gsmarena.com/lg_d820_certified_by_the_f...

the above said:
The docs also give out some of the dimensions of the device – 131.9 x 68.2 mm – and the diagonal of the screen - 126mm or a hair under 5". That doesn’t bode well for the rumors that a LG-made Nexus 5 would be based on the LG G2 (the G2 has a 5.2-inch sreen).
Nexus 4 Dimensions for comparison:
133.9 x 68.7 x 9.1 mm
