Google Nexus 5

Does anyone have an issue where their device keeps bleeping for no reason, every now and again?? I check for notifications but nothing is there, but the bloody thing still bleeps!
I can't for the life of me work out why and it's really frustrating...
Could it be Google Now? Even though I've turned its notifications off?
Help please!

A shot in the dark, but could it not be something triggering the NFC chip, like a credit or debit card or something else with a Microchip in it (you can test by swiping a card on the back of your phone, it should make a noise).I can't for the life of me work out why and it's really frustrating...

ETA Saying that I can't make my N4 do it any more
I sideloaded the new update. It makes quite difference to the camera, although I've not done a lot of testing. It seems to focus much quicker and doesn't hunt around like it did before. The HDR+ mode now has an indicator so you can see when it is taking the images rather than the screen just freezing. They seem to have changed it so that it doesn't try to hold the ISO down as much, meaning faster shutter speeds in low light.
A couple of test shots before and after update in the dimness of my study had it using 1/7 second at ISO 218 before the update and 1/50 second at ISO 1321 after. That should make it much easier to get sharp shots in lower light. There is unsurprisingly a bit more noise noticeable at the higher ISO, and the white balance is slightly warmer after the update. 1080p video recording seems much smoother than before, where there was a slight jerkiness to motion. Zooming works better while videoing as well.
The other change which was immediately noticeable is that the speaker appears to be better. Notification sounds and the lock/unlock noise seem to be quite a bit louder. The notification light pulses once every 10 seconds, but I think that is similar to how it was before. I don't use lightflow to control the LED so don't know about any problems with that.

Cheers for the suggestion, but I've got NFC turned off - dont have a need for it to be honest with you.ETA Saying that I can't make my N4 do it any more
Is anyone else having this problem? Driving me nuts!
Here is a link to the update: http://android.clients.google.com/packages/ota/goo...
You will need adb from the android software developers kit, and the adb drivers installed on your PC to be able to use install it via the stock recovery on the phone. You may have to use some universal drivers to get adb to work, since the Google ones oddly don't appear to fully support the Nexus 5 yet. You can get them here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2...

One of the big reasons I switched to an Android phone was because software updates would be more readily available than the Nokias I've had before.
Are Android OS updates carrier specific at all, or released at different times to different providers?? I've got a Giffgaff SIM currently. Should I expect an update within 24 hours of an official release by Google or could it take a lot longer?
I don't mind messing around manually loading it, but if I'm only going to save myself a few hour of waiting time, I'd prefer to wait!

For Nexus devices, the updates come directly from Google. Their release policy is that they first release to a very small number of phones (say 1% for example) and wait to see if there are any major problems. If not, they release to maybe 10% and wait again. They gradually increase the number and once they are confident there are no major bugs they release to everybody. When the phone first checks, it has a small chance of getting the download. If it is not part of the first group then it won't get a download until the next batch are released, where it has a slightly higher chance of getting it.
It is done that way to avoid the situation where a bug is missed and they get several million people shouting that Google broke their phone. It also reduces the load on networks. It takes a week or two from the initial release date before the update becomes available to everybody, but if they do discover a problem that could lead to a delay. There isn't any carrier specific stuff on Nexus phones so they don't have any involvement in the process.
Other android manufacturers may have different release processes, but you have to wait for them to customise it with their bloatware anyway.

Just to go back a few pages where I was contemplating a Nexus 5 but was concerned about the battery life compared to my iPhone 4, I needn't have been concerned as its easily as good, lasts all day from 7am to midnight with battery to spare, and that's using it more than I would have done the iPhone having Google Now etc fully functional. It's also leagues ahead of an old iPhone running IOS7 in terms of speed and responsiveness so overall very happy with the change.
Does anyone else get inconsistent font sizes when browsing the PH forum in Chrome? Seems fine on my Hudl so doesn't seem to be a generic Android issue but on the Nexus 5 posts that are only 1-2 lines long are a much smaller (almost unreadable) font than the rest. Any ideas how to fix it, all the Chrome settings are default
It's fine on the mobile version of PH, but I prefer browsing with the desktop website. Its also fine in Dolphin Browser so definitely a Chrome issue, if others don't get the same (this very page on the thread does it if you want to test) then I'll perhaps try clearing all the cache for Chrome, although Chrome beta does the same and I doubt they share, so probably won't work.
