Hi all,

Has anyone noticed that when you're listening to music (but you have your call profile in vibrate), you don't get notified of a call coming in?

Is there any way to fix this, or do you need to have the call ringer volume turned up?

If you don't have a volume for the ringer on then your phone will just vibrate as normal and allow the music to continue playing anyway.

I tend to just turn my ringer on when I've got headphones in.

Just a quick question.

I've just upgraded the stereo in my car to a all singing all dancing one with bluetooth , sd card and twin usb's .

Is it possible to play music from my phone via usb instead of bluetooth ?

I read / picked up from somewhere that usb playback was clearer than using bluetooth.

Yes, USB will be much better quality than BT. I was looking into this myself the other day, the codec used for BT music streaming is shockingly poor quality. Fine fr making calls, but no use for stereo music. Lower quality than FM radio.

No, you can't use the phone as a USB stick.

If your car supports USB, buy a USB stick and copy the music from your computer straight to that.

Ah well thats that then .

I've just discovered playlists and things as well .

Seems a bit odd to me that a Nexus 5 comes with a usb type cable thats only any good for charging !!

It also works for connecting to a PC and viewing photos :-)

I discovered that you can turn the phone off even when locked, by holding down the power key.

Unfortunately I discovered this while out on Saturday night, and not knowing the PIN code for my new SIM card, so was stranded without a phone until I got home

It's not only good for charging, but it doesn't support USB mass storage which is what your car is probably looking for. The reason for this is that by connecting as a mass storage device, a computer it is connected to can make changes to the file system that can mess up android. By only connecting as an MTP device, the phone retains control of the file system while still allowing files to be transferred.

The USB port supports USB-on-the-go which allows you to connect peripherals like a mouse or keyboard, USB sticks, game controllers and various other things. It is also a slimport display output, which with a suitable adaptor allows you to connect it to a TV or other display.

Switching off auto-brightness has made a decent battery saving on mine.

So I'm getting horrendous battery life and the battery stats were saying it was android OS causing it ....

I've run in safe mode all day (third party apps are blocked) and my battery life had been superb .... so it's a 3rd party app causing it... So I have uninstalled some of my apps and I will try and narrow it down

Every update of the Facebook app is shyte. How can a company worth billions not get one app right.

It's not that bad on the iPhone apparently, but on Android it seems to drain the juice. I try to keep my Facebook use minimal but when used, the battery does noticeably drain quicker.

The other thing that drained my battery was bad reception. But that's a given.

I wonder if I can get an old version or a different app...

Will post a battery usage trend later ... I downloaded the app ... Logged in and that was it ... Checked timeline a couple of times and Android OS was kept awake ... Uninstalled and the battery usage trend has tailed off again

I've not noticed the Facebook app draining power, have you got location services enabled perhaps using the GPS a lot?
