I take a minimalist approach. Slimmest decent case I can fine - Ringke Slim on mine and no screen saver. Never had a scratch in 5 years of Android smartphones although I am generally careful with them

yes I have this same case on mine. My phone is black and I have the white case. Has saved it from a few drops so far.

When the red N5 was announced on the Play Store site I thought it would be a plain red, maybe a pinkish red, to get into the Valentines Day sales. But no, it looks like its a day glow eye burner orangey RED.

Was new phone time as my HTC one x that I loved so much has a dead patch on the screen which has gone from intermittent to perminant.

As well as the nexus 5 was looking at the HTC one as it is stunning but lg g2 has also come down in cost. My impatience I found myself I'm cpw grabbing a white N5. Got £50 cash back to for my broken HTC.

Hangouts quickly replaced with textra. Not giving hangouts a chance I'll see how I get on with textra, any other opinions on apps before I can't be bothered changing.

Chrome, not sure on yet, seems quick but I do nlikenboat browser.

The camera app I'm not keen on, I knew I wouldn't be as I have a n10. I can live with it bit is there anything else, over not looked.

To save me going over 30 of pages any quick todos

Switch over to ART. I've noticed better battery life and some apps open a little quicker than before.

Use MX Player for videos and es file explorer for files.

Anybody using one of those wireless charging pads? Which ones are good?

I've been on ART for a few months now and the improvement is minimal. Still an improvement so I'm not complaining but this thing is crying for a bigger battery (or even more efficient use of the current one via an update).

Speaking of updates, Sprint are releasing a 4.4.3 update, which is bizarre as I thought we'd get any update first. But it's apparently for improvement with LTE services and it's not on the factory image for Nexus devices.

I don't think the 4.4.3 update will be anything staggering, just bug fixes and such. It is unusual for a specific network version to be released before the official Nexus updates, but other 4.4.3 updates are said to be in final testing and released in coming weeks.

I'm tempted by the 5 as it seems a reasonable price on contract. One review mentioned different materials depending on the colour of the device which sounds odd.

What is this please?

Battery life is my only issue with my Nexus (okay the odd crash but that's android), it isn't as good as my old (very old!) iphone 4 by an hour or two per charge - a lot better than the HTC One I had though.

Sprint aren't releasing anything. They are simply telling their subscribers to watch out for an update from Google who are the only ones to update Nexus devices. They'll not get 4.4.3 before anyone else.

To be honest I've not seen anything to suggest that the update is 4.4.3 simply some new 'Spark' thing that allows faster LTE speeds. Then again I've not really delved into it so I could be wrong. I'll just wait for the custom rom devs to upgrade me anyway.

Anyone else had the updated camera app. Is it just me or does the quality of pictures look better? The screen size has dropped though.

Edit - by screen size, I meant the portion of screen where the image taken is. It's only 3/4 of the whole screen as 1/4 has been dedicated to the camera key.

It does appear a little wider, but the camera can be shot by tapping anywhere in the grey bar now (ie you don't have to aim for the shutter button), it wasn't always that way was it, or did I just not realise?

That is because previously the viewfinder showed a cropped image. The screen is 16:9 and the sensor is 4:3 ratio so the top and bottom of the photo were not shown when you took a picture. Now the viewfinder shows the whole image that will be captured.

I know the camera app was a known battery drain.... But what a difference!

Now on hour 18 and still over 35%
With my usage I've usually topped up the charge and still on the bones of my butt by now!
