What does she do to it?
It's been the most stable smartphone I've owned in years, and that's having owned about a dozen (including BB's and iPhones)!
Either she completely mistreats it or she needs to have it replaced.
From experience, an S4 won't be any more stable! (have no experience with the S5)
The phone itself has been looked after not damaged in anyway I reckon its dodgy hardware.

Bought the GF one a few months ago, all as she does is moan about it.
Apps crash, especially the standard keyboard. Random shutdowns and now.... the microphone for the phone has given up so cant make outgoing calls unless using the headphones..
She wants rid of it.. wants a samsung S4 or S5....
Email sent to Google Play support hoping they will replace it
You could try doing a factory reset, but it a hardware fault is possible (especially the mic not working). The rest doesn't sound typical - I haven't had any problems like those with mine and I've had it since launch. Tried it a few times its, gonna see what Google say about it Don't suppose anyone's had an issue with Google Play Services sucking the life out of the battery? It's doing it on my Xperia Z, but I have a colleague with a Nexus 5 with exactly the same issue? It seems Play Services physically won't let the phone sleep, and it is caining the battery.

Had exactly the same problem, it's to do with the location services keeping the device awake. I solved mine by freezing certain Google apps using titanium backup (have to be rooted)Have a search on XDA forums, there's quite a few with the same problem, but until Google release another update, I think you'd have to root to solve it. It started happening for me, when they updated Google search

Don't bother emailing Google play, just phone them up, they'll send you a replacement next day delivery and a pre paid collection for your old one. That's assuming you bought from them directly.
I've done just that, Replacement should be here tomorrow, I've agreed the missus can have my S4 and il take the Nexus 5 (Bit disappointed they are sending me the white one again, fancied the red haha)FuryExocet said:

Same here, although I got the new Google Search when I upgraded to KitKat, initially I thought Sony had properly cocked up the firmware, until I saw others with other handsets having the same issue. Someone on XDA suggested clearing the Cache for Play Services then clearing the data, then rebooting. I've done that and battery life is back to normal - for now.

The red is more of a retina destroying orange, got one for the other half when they were first released. Stick with the white! Not sure if these have been mentioned before, but bought one to transport dvd images for the holidays for my N5 & N7 - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kingston-32GB-Micro-DataTr...
Anyone found a way to empty the Recycle Bin for the inbuilt email app?
I've got my work Exchange account and a couple of other IMAP accounts on the phone and I've had to remove and recreate them twice now because the Recycle Bin just fills up with deleted email (I get a load to spam and notifications from various servers) until it says "999+" and the Email app starts crashing every time I try and delete more thereafter.
As far as I can tell there's no way to "delete all" on the contents of the Recycle Bin, or to stop email that's deleted ending up in there.
Thanks in advance!

Does anybody notice the volume freezes on screen when watching a video on YouTube et al? The volume can still be changed but the on screen indicator key just freezes.
This happens on my N4Suddenly couldn't take photos with mine today. All was fine, took a few, then the shutter button turned grey, and neither that nor the volume buttons worked to take photos.
No problem with storage space, and eventually powering off and on got it back to normal.
Just thought I'd share!
