So emailed Google Play saying my 2 week old Nexus5 has repaired most of the issues I had with the old one but the Roaming signal issue was getting very annoying now...
Email back today telling me they will send a new phone once again... Jesus they love sending new phones
I presume you have to send the old ones back? Or have you now got three nexus 5's?Email back today telling me they will send a new phone once again... Jesus they love sending new phones

Does anybody notice the volume freezes on screen when watching a video on YouTube et al? The volume can still be changed but the on screen indicator key just freezes.
This happens on my N4Knowing my luck, I'll be back in a bit to tell you all how this issue won't go away and how I want it to die in a fire.
Morning all,
There's a secret option to enable some of the Android L's performance upgrades, which I've tried today. Performance is slightly better but battery life is a big improvement.
Here's how to enable it:
- Go to Settings
- Select ‘About Phone’
- Click on ‘Build Number’ seven times. This will enable Developer options
- Go back and you’ll see a new ‘Developer Options‘ option
- Open it and click “Select runtime” and choose “Use ART”
You'll then get a restart and it's done. Some apps might not be compatible so you can easily switch back whenever you want

Can't say that battery life or speed are noticeably better with art, never mind much better. Phone still feels ferociously quick, and battery life continues to be satisfactory but not great.
I don't doubt there might be some difference but it won't be noticeable to most and to say its much better is a bit of an exaggeration.
Has anyone tried android L yet then? I think I'll wait for it to come out officially, I CBA to be a beta tester these days...

The version of ART that is included in KitKat is an early version that does not have all the performance benefits of the version that will end up being shipped in the L release.
This graph was shown at I/O:
The version of ART in KitKat corresponds to the red bar which is only marginally better than Dalvik.

Depends on what you've got running. Not all applications can use ART and not all make the most of it so if you're running something a lot that makes the most of it then the gains can be significant. WhyAyeMan said:

Had the official preview on my Nexus 5 and 7 for a couple of days now. Not yet run into any major snags and I really like it. I have had a couple of random crashes - for example every time I tried to enter any APN details it would crash. Worked fine after a reboot thankfully.AJB88 said:
