I found that mine deteriorated quite a bit as well, but I uninstalled a bunch of unused apps and it seems to be back to similar levels as it was when I bought it now. Not sure which app it was or whether it was a combination of a few of them each taking a few percent extra running in the background, but try giving your installed apps a spring clean out.

How is battery life for people on their Nexus 5s now? Mine was adequate when I bought the phone back in January but it's just rubbish now. Take it off charge at 7.30 or so, down to a single figure percentage by 4pm with a few bits of web browsing. Checking the battery use, mostly it's down to the screen but there is nothing out of the ordinary. I can't leave the house without a portable phone battery charger.

I've had the phone 9 months, non replaceable battery, was planning on hanging onto it for 2 years. Please God will they just make the phones a bit bigger and stick a decent battery in?

Mine died this morning, no power or response whatsoever. Thankfully it's only 6 months old so Amazon have one on the way to me for the morning.

Lost a few photos from last weekend though mad

The battery is the worst thing about this phone. Mine only lasts about 2 hours SoT, and maybe 12 hours without a charge? Bit crap really.

Other than that, it's still one of the top android phones, which is amazing considering the original price, and age.

Has anyone tried changing the battery in their N5? Mine has definitely dropped off of late (12m old now) and I've no interest in the N6 so this could be the mid-life pick me up it needs.

Looking on Google, it does appear do-able if a bit fiddly. Can anyone recommend a supplier?

I think a clean install would be worth trying first, perhaps with the new Lollipop update which is supposed to help battery life. Obviously batteries can lose performance over time but they should last longer than 9-12 months.

My phone has been suffering from the dreaded reboot loop issue. You have to spam the power button to get it working again. It really has been pissing me off for the last week as it has been a daily occurance. It even left me without a phone to be used for 2 days.

Google have stated that a replacement will be on its way once I receive and respond to their email.
A bit of an update. New phone arrived earlier so quite happy. Let's hope this one doesn't have the same issue.

Happy birthday to my Nexus 5, received a year ago today!
Still the original which is way better than my other Nexus devices; I got through three Nexus 4s and currently on my fourth Nexus 7 since March 2013 - all replaced under warranty by Google.

Battery life is still pretty good, a full day if I'm home or in the office.
If out and about it may suffer a little, searching for signal(s) I assume.
Otherwise, still very happy with it - still zippy and feature rich and a nice thing to have.

It cost £299 so pretty much £25 per month over the year - feels like quite a lot as calls/contract on top of that, though it's all supplied by my employer so costs me zip.

What was wrong with all those Nexus 7?

Assorted issues from not charging to unresponsive screen to sound failing. It's out of warranty now and VERY slow even after full reset and no apps. Pretty much unusable.
A shame, I really liked it when I got the first one.

FFS. This one doesn't have any reception/signal. Just opened a ticket with Google for them to call me again.

fksticks.

Had mine a year and it's been fantastic. Best phone I've owned. Mid way through the year work issued me with an iPhone 4S which feels awful in comparison.

24 hours into using the replacement and all is well again. The camera seems pretty good on this too.

UPDATE

Bugger. N7 dead as a dead thing.

N5 wouldn't connect to play store so factory reset and now won't see my wifi network. grumpy

I'm waiting for my first N5 replacement after just over 12 months of relatively problem-free use.

The notification LED has always been an issue, even with third party apps, but I've been able to put up with that.

Recently, I've noticed more and more dropped calls and it seems I'm not alone with that. It was an annoyance but has become more of an issue recently so I'm hoping a hardware swap will sort it.

Battery life has been good.

Anyone received an OTA Lollipop update yet? I'm on Tesco if it makes any difference. Can't be arsed to do it manually!

Was on a long charity bike ride on Sunday so had the Strava app running for 6 or more hours. I had a little chuckle to myself when everyone with Iphone 4/5's were asking around for chargers in the bar afterwards & I was on 50% remaining, which seemed comparable to my mates Iphone 6.

Got mine Thursday. Reliability is good at the moment, its quite a nice OS, but there are a few quirks I need to adapt to compared to KitKat. Also, haven't noticed a massive improvement in battery life, maybe 5% or so better.
