Question- not too keen on hangouts, is there an alternative?
Evolve SMS
Yaata (have to join the Google+ beta test, but it's the best I've used)
Hello SMS - simple and easy to use

Lots of others I've tried, but they are the one's I like the most

The new google messages app is great and doesn't crash.

Has anyone else had problems with glass screen protectors with air pockets that won't go away

Maybe the first few I put on - user error. The screen has to be grease free and spotless and the protector applied perfectly. If they can't be squeezed to the edge, bubbles are nigh on impossible to get rid of, especially if it's actually a spec of dust.

I've put four glass ones on they all had had the same issues even if I managed to get it to apply with no bubbles it has circles with pimply dots around it in places

I never had this much trouble with my iPhone

I don't bother with screen protectors anymore. Removes the experience of using a nice smooth screen.

Anyone having an issue with any forma of videos they receive either on WhatsApp, Facebook et al? Mine only plays part way through and then stops, but the time/duration bar stays at zero. Bizarre.

On further investigation, it appears to just be the photos app itself as downloaded videos open fine in MX Player.

I appear to be talking to myself on this thread now biggrin

Why does my 5 restart itself at least once a day? (It has lollipop 5.1)
5.0.1?

If it keeps doing that, get in touch with Google. Mine did that and it drove me mad. Had it replaced free and now the new phone is fine in that respect.

I've had NFC and the Daydream feature on since I got the phone but am turning it off now to see if it makes a difference to the battery life.

Does anyone actually use Daydream?

If you put it into a Docking Station it's what it displays on the screen, clock or other apps display info.

Does anyone's N5 on lollipop seem to lag slightly and stutter with opening/running some apps?

There's still a big memory leak in Lollipop, which might be the cause, especially if you don't ever turn the phone off. They haven't issued a fix yet.

I'm running Cataclysm rom at the moment, which is basically stock bar a few extra options available in the settings menu. They also seem to have both the Memory leak and misc battery drain solved.

Is this not app related though? I have no such issues nor do my two colleagues running N5 and 5.01.

Facebook and some games are force closing themselves a lot lately. I also have the freezing/stuttering issue still with the handset. Not sure if it's the Apps but it is happening a lot more recently. I'll monitor it and see which App it is.

In other news, battery life is still st. In fact, I'm sometimes puzzled if I don't have to charge my phone during the day.

This past week my phone has decided it doesn't want to load half the pages while using wifi, thought it was my wifi but it seems to be at work too.

Turn wifi off and everything is fine.

Got a second hand one of these last week. So far, battery lasts longer than my Nexus 4 did and is a lot more responsive. The only app crash I've had is Instagram and that occasionally crashes on the 4 and 7 since the lollipop update.

Very happy with it over the 4 smile

Chaps, I've just dropped my phone on the drive and I've smashed the camera lens, does anyone know where I can get hold of one in the uk?

Cheers.
