Slightly o/t question, but is shutting apps down on the nexus phone as easy as the tablet? My samsung galaxy S2 seems to be a pain to shut stuff down.
What are you doing to shut apps down?

On the S2, you simply hold the middle (home) button down and then your list of applications running show up. You then swipe left any particular application you want to stop. This is on 4.1.2.
Can do that, but if you go through 'settings, applications, running' it bring up a whole list of stuff thats running in the background.

On a Nexus 4, press the apps button and swipe apps to close them.

Nexus 5 looks like it could be a great phone but somehow not as good as the phone it's "apparently" based on. The battery life for one will be less.

I still don't understand why they'd want to put a 'smaller' battery in.

It's all rumour at the moment, and one of the rumours is that the 16GB version gets a 2300mAh battery and the 32GB version gets a 3000mAh battery.

Wait for the specs before deriding it. Even a 2300mAh battery would be more than an N4.

The iPhone 5s battery, by the way, is 1560mAh.

Must admit the only way I'd upgrade is if it's still cheap and has a significantly better camera and battery life than the 4. If it cannot significantly best the 4 other than specs then I'll give this one a miss.

I agree. I think that the speed of development for phones isn't quick enough to upgrade every year. Similar to iPhones.

I couldn't see the point of an upgrade from a Galaxy Nexus to Nexus 4. however as the GNex is two years old an upgrade to a Nexus 5 seems right.

what happens to your n4 if it develops a fault now they are out of stock of this model?

There will be plenty in repair centres for returns.

<sarcastic idiot>You have to feel sorry for people driving about in older cars, since there's no possible way for the manufacturer to support older cars while making new ones.</sarcastic idiot>

They stockpile phones and parts before they go on sale, and after...

Looks like being announced tomorrow instead.

Was hoping it would be today so it would help make my mind up for wether I got the N5 or an HTC One

Instead of what?

I've only ever seen the 15th October and "End of October" as the rumours.

Was the 14th ever one?

I'm sure I'd seen it somewhere.

It's possible I imagined the whole thing mind.

I can't remember which site I saw it on but there is some speculation that the US Government "shut down" might be causing delays with FCC Certification.

Yes, I have seen mention of that too, that some of the government approvals have been belayed by the shutdown, hence no annoucement yet frown
