I have the latest one and it doesn't get as much use as it should or that it used to.

Since we moved to Virgin, we quite often use that for Netflix as the Tivo box has the app.

I use it every now and again when family/friends are round and we're showing photos or something.

Still, it's not expensive and I wonder if one day they'll come up with a Jailbreak?

Sky don't allow you to do it. It's not knackered.

Well I for one have fully embraced the ATV experience, after having the gen 3 for a couple of weeks iv sold up and bought a jailbrocken untethered gen2 with XMBC installed.(£140)

I'm upto date with most of the recent films on offer, watched the 1 st season of peaky blinders / Luther etc there so much on offer,
Currently watching the U.S topgear

Not only the TV/movie/sports stuff but it's good for mirroring 3real racing and world of tanks onto the TV

Happy days

Sky subscription out the window, although I'll be getting there Now T.V package on the ATV

I've had AppleTV for a couple of weeks now, and just bought a Macbook pro too, so I was hoping to use it to stream movies from my Amazon Prime account.

I'm having a few issues however in that streaming from the Macbook is very jerky and sound is stuttered. It doesn't happen on the laptop, and doesn't happen if streaming from my iPhone 5.

Anyone else had issues with jerky playback when using the Airplay function from a mac? A quick google only throws up some settings for "WMM" on the router that might be the issue but I can't find anything related to these settings on my BT Homehub5 manager?

Is there much 'free' viewing by the ATV ?
I just bought and had a play, but am wondering if it is all 'rental' or subscribe account stuff ? confused
No there is nothing free apart from YouTube and the odd Apple event.

All previously bought iTunes stuff is available though but anything new is purchase or rental.

What did you expect to be free?

I guess you've a point!
It's a cracking bit of kit if you are in the apple ecosystem already but yeah, thinking loads of stuff would be free was optimistic hehe

Get an Amazon fire TV then. Virtually the same thing but Amazon and not apple.
Prime app, netflix app, iplay app etc etc.
You can side load xbmc (apparently not tried that yet).

If you've got an iPhone or iPad you can easily mirrow/stream the latest TV shows and films off various web sites quite easily,

Still struggling to resolve this one, if anyone has an ideas? Tried lots of searching on google and just get some generic fluff about wireless speeds. I can't see how the mac will be synced at a lower speed than the iPhone?
