Anyone else having this issue? I have been talking to Google on a Google Forum, and they just keep continually asking the same questions??? I have dissapointedly cancelled my Netflix subscription, there is really no point in me having this unless it works as it should. It's handly for iPlayer and Casting Youtube etc, but the thing I really want appears to not work!
Netflix UK works perfectly on mine.

Yes it does but if your TV has a USB port then it can be plugged into that.

Rather than loading the tracks directly to the phone use the Google music desktop software to upload the tracks to the server (up to 20k tracks I believe)

Then pin them on the phone in the G Music app if you want them stored on the phoine

Thank you!

I've had my Chromecast for a week and I'm very impressed. It's so easy to use and streaming Netflix or BBC iPlayer is so much better quality than via my Chromebook and HDMI cable. All for £30? Bargain.

Thinking of buying one of these for one reason.....Cartoon HD.

Will it work from either my HTC One or Ipad4?

Ahhh ok that could work. I do use their music importer but I also use isyncr because I like to keep my music organised on I tunes and it searches iTunes and copies them across for me.

I'll try it out and let you know the outcome.

Mine seems to work fine using Iphone/Ipad/MacBook.

Put Plex Media Server on my NAS and bought the Plex app for £2.99 = instant media streaming.

No problems so far at all.

Not bad for £32.99 all in.

(Plus leaving Plex to sort out the NAS server for 2+ days)

Slight flaw with these - you need to be on the same wifi network to set them up. My PC has a wired connection plugged direct in to the router that the chromecast is connected to but it won't fire up the administration program on the computer. Just gives a "Please turn on wifi" message which is a bit tricky on a computer without a bloody wireless card!

Chromecast sets itself up as a WiFi access point for the initial configuration so yes, you need a wireless capable machine for the time it takes to point chromecast at the correct access point and enter the password. Chromecast App on an Android or iDevice will work for setup.

Yes, did all that no problem and have the chromecast connected to the same router as the PC. Can cast from Chrome on the PC so they can definitely talk to each other, but I just can't change any settings or turn on a couple of the features I bought it for (the "experimental" desktop casting for one).

As my phone is perfectly capable of casting to my TV anyway, this makes the Chromecast a little pointless (in my particular case).

Do you have plex on your phone, so that you can cast movie/TV show to the TV?

For desktop casting, use the Chrome extension and click on the little arrow in the top right hand corner to select desktop casting (should be 3 options - Cast this Tab, Cast this Tab (optimize for audio) and Cast Entire Screen (experimental). Just tried it here (wired connection on Mac) and it worked fine.

For the other stuff - search for the first occurrence of "display: none" in the "Inspect Element" view (it's in the css) and delete it (the link I posted looks to be out of date), then you'll get all the dev. options.
