Does the Moto G have its own front to Android like HTC Sense or Samsung Touchwhiz or is it just plain android?

'Nother update. I've had my Moto G for the thick end of a month now and it's simply superb. Suddenly, smartphones make sense.

Best £120 (16Gb model) I've spent on tech for a long, long time.

Motorola are making good phones at the moment. I've got a RAZRi and it's easily as good as the benchmark iPhone. Seemlessly quick and responsive whatever I do, decent screen, nice and lightweight. It's my first smartphone and I really can't think of anything more I'd ever need.

Having just set one up (very impressed with the responsiveness, deffo a match for my 4S), it looks completely stock Android to me.

Very, very impressed for the money. in thickness it's a bit thicker, but has a nicely curved back and feels great in the hand because of it. The plastic isn't as "hyperglaze" like for example the samsungs, which make them feel sturdier and less slippery.

I have one of these. It's OK, works well and protects the phone nicely. Downside is that it's a bit bulky and looks a smidge cheap. It may be better in black or clear.

I purchased a Moto G today for £99.99 from an O2 shop & have to say I'm very impressed with it

Running it with a O2 Simplicity Sim card with 30 day contract

Replaced my old HTC HD2 & it's loads faster & a much better interface

Fully recommended if you're looking for another phone & don't want to pay Apple price!!

The Moto G 4G is out now http://www.engadget.com/2014/06/24/moto-g-lte-micr...

The article is talking about the price of the original G coming down after a few weeks and a bit of a price war between the retailers. Did this happen? I didn't pay much attention to the Moto G first time around, is it likely to happen again?

I just got my wife a decent upgrade to a Moto G 8GB with Vodafone.

Free phone, 600 mins, U/L texts and 1GB data for £10.50/nth over 24 months.

Got the tariff for half price as a loyalty discount.

I've ordered a Moto G 4G today from P4U, due to be delivered tomorrow.

I've currently got an iPhone 4 32GB, which has been fine until I updated it to iOS 7, then I've had to reboot it more times than in the previous 2 years!

The reason(s) for going from the iPhone are due to change of job, which means I'm going to have to give back (among many other things) my iPad on Friday. When I've looked at what to replace it with, I can't justify spending my own money at Apple prices, which leaves andriod or windows. Having had a Surface RT tablet last year and not being able to gel with it, I thought I'd give andriod a go, as I've found having a link between my tablet and phone very useful, especially for music and kindle books.

So I've plunged for the Moto G due to the reviews on here, and the fact that it's now 4G with an sd card slot so I can put all my music on it. I am worried about the transition from iOS to Android though - can anyone provide any reassurance?

Also, I'm considering an Asus MeMo pad as the iPad mini replacement - is this a decent alternative?

Thanks in advance for any views or advice.

I had a play around with an Asus Memopad FHD 10, and it was a cracking piece of kit. Really responsive, good resolution, and felt solid.

It's not hard, you just have to "stick with it" for a week or two, then it'll feel as natural as the previous phone you've owned. The Moto G is what we would call "Vanilla" Android, which means it's the basic google thought of what Android should be. That means it's pretty straightforward.
Easiest thing to do, if it's not done already, is set up a gmail account on your iPhone and make sure all your contacts are copied there. Then it'll need no set up on the Android phone.

Yes, although have a look at the Nexus 7 as well. More expensive (in the gap between the memo pad and ipad mini) but better spec and imho feels better in the hand. No SD card though.

Got a 4G version of this for my brother today, lovely piece of kit...Very hard to justify excessively high prices of other phones when you look at this for £159.

Not brilliant, but not st either.

In that respect it's a step down from my previous original htc sensation. In every other my moto blows it away completely.

How is it compared to an iPhone 4? I need to replace my iPhone this year, seriously tempted by the 4G moto.

It's not far off at all but I've not sat down and properly scrutinised it. My wife has an iPhone4 and the latest iOS has really shafted it. It is much slower to respond than my moto G.

Image quality is very good on screen but when you zoom in the quality drops off a bit. As an example, I could take a photo on my old HTC sensation (a 3yr old handset), and they were good enough to send off for printing as "proper" photos. Not so sure the G would be quite as good, not tried it yet though.

For what they cost though, can't go wrong.

I'll just see if I can find some suitable examples of pics and reply on here to show you.
