Out of interest has anyone had recent problems where the Tivo box is running slow? By this I mean when you attempt to call up/play what you've recorded you get the 'spinning wheel' that reminds me of the old dial up problem. I can also have a delay of 3-5 seconds accompanied by a black screen when I switch from My Shows/Guide back to TV.
I think they've recently done a firmware update as when you dial in channel numbers they appear yellow until it switches over
For something that's supposed to be fibre optic it is like a slug compared to Sky
I've had this myself over the last couple of days. Hopefully it is just a teething problem caused by an update.I think they've recently done a firmware update as when you dial in channel numbers they appear yellow until it switches over

The Youtube app was unuseable, thought I was on dialup...
Their Youtube app is terrible. Takes over a minute to start up, then when you eventually play a video it stutters and buffers as if you're on dial-up. 100mbps yet unable to play a clip in 360p! Plug a Google Chromecast in to the TV and Youtube works perfectly fine.
I recently had a new Tivo box installed as the hard drive died on the original one. Hoped I would see a performance improvement but no, exactly the same.

Echo that...the tivo is EVEN slower than usual... interface, apps (youtube or Netflix) seriously slow/unusable
I gave up on the apps through Virgin when I got an 'internet' ready wifi TV. As stated for something that is fibre optic driven the speed (or lack of) is terrible so I revert to youtube via tv app/broadband.It's still slow on replaying and exiting recorded programmes in 'My Shows' but what I've noticed is it seems to be when you record from a HD channel?
I'm really struggling with my BB recently. Completely unusable so Ive been tethering to my phone recently.
Called customer services who are insisting I plug my laptop into the router to see if it's the wifi... yeah, dead easy with a Macbook that has no ethernet port.
They won't send an engineer out until I've gone through this process.

...but it does (well mine does anyway), just per usual with Apple you need a special connector.Called customer services who are insisting I plug my laptop into the router to see if it's the wifi... yeah, dead easy with a Macbook that has no ethernet port.

It's a pain in the arse to have to shell out for one of them just to get Virgin to sort out their stting broadband that I'm paying huge amounts for as part of a package.
But I guess it's something I'll have to do.
Agree its a pain but in my experience of BT line-based services prior to VM they insisted on the same thing and I had a whole bucketload more problems with ours due to pisspoor wiring external to the house. VM broadband does seem altogether more stable (in our location at least) so I've only had to seek their support to confirm an outage once or twice and they've stepped up to the mark better than TalkTalk / BT etc ever did. The trouble is there so much going on in home wifi networks these days you have to work through a process of elimination. I find ours does benefit from a full reset every now and again (standard VM hub). But I guess it's something I'll have to do.

I didn't think it was possible for the Tivo box to get any slower than it was, but yes, sadly mine has also been doing this lately. May switch TV service back to Sky as the contract is up soon.Edited by SBDJ on Thursday 25th August 19:44
I've had it with Virgin Media now, for the past 8 weeks we've been having problems with the TV and broadband and despite countless hours on the phone to them and 7 is its from their technicians it's still not working.
Needless to say, I'll be cancelling it before they get a chance to charge me even more for the service!

My bill went up to £53 at start of August so a quick call and they dropped it by £10, 2 weeks after that they wrote to tell me it was going up in November by £3.49!
Rang them again last week and said they were taking the piss and I wanted to cancel so they have given me a one off repayment of £50 and my monthly bill for the next 6 months will be £41 then the following 6 months it will be £44

The price hiking on the back of freebies/upgrade is pretty annoying.
Oh dear, I've just clicked on the 'ok' for 50mb->70mb 'free upgrade'. Should I be expecting a hike? Currently I pay £28.25/month for internet access only.Gassing Station | Computers, Gadgets & Stuff | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
