I smashed the screen on my 5 today frown

What are the chances if being able to get a 6+ off the shelf somewhere?

There was no problem at the weekend at apple stores - there is an online stock checker where you can reserve the phone if they have one.

Picked up my iPhone 6 today.
Very happy I did not pick the the 6+ because the 6 seems more than large enough for me. I even find myself using the "Reachability" feature quite a lot with the regular 6 in one-handed operation.

My house has bad reception and the iPhone 6 did nothing to improve over my old iPhone 5 (carrier won’t do anything about it).

A cheap all plastic Motorola Moto G bought for testing has enough reception for clear phone calls without any interruptions but I couldn’t live with Android. I believe "Voice over WiFi" would fix that but it’ll take aeons until this ass-backwards carrier will implement it, if at all.

Being able to log into websites in Safari using 1Password and TouchID is absolutely amazing although not very secure.

Other than that there's nothing I can say that wasn't already mentioned in this thread.

6+, or 6? All the stores are showing the 6+ as constantly unavailable, have been since online reservations started, far as I can tell.

I wasn't aware you could do that, does that include for example logging into PH?

an aside, what makes you suspect it's not secure?

Yes. To enable it first update 1Password and enable Touch ID support in the 1PW Settings. (disabled by default) Then go into Safari, open any site, press the "Share" icon on the lower bar and scroll to the right where it says "Copy" and "Print" until you see "More". Press that and enable the 1Password toggle in this menu. Done.

To log in, press the Share -> 1Password button and confirm with your password or fingerprint. Note that it requires the master password instead of Touch ID after x minutes of inactivity or if the Touch ID entry fails once.

Touch ID itself isn't very secure compared to, say, a strong 20+ character password. It was "hacked" a few days after release. see: http://istouchidhackedyet.com

Hacked is one way to put it.. I would hope I would have time to block my iPhone a lot sooner than they could etch a PCB and scan one of my prints.

yes and who uses a 20 character password? Most passwords are much shorter than that and are often largely made up of existing words. Most debit card transactions rely on a four digit pin number and a chip, a 16 digit number plus a three digit number, or if less than a certain amount, a mere passing of the card over a device. Relatively speaking, Touch ID wouldn't worry me at all.

Solihull (touchwood shopping centre) had them all if you didn't mind colour - the reservation tool is down at the moment so I can't check

No dice, but thanks anyway.

Guess I'll just have to wait 3 weeks for mine to be delivered (before I send it back for being too big smile).

Mine arrived during the day yesterday, picked it up from neighbour when I got home.

First thoughts - the screen is lovely but massive (6 rather than +). Will need to get used to the double tap thing before one handed use is comfortable again.

No offence meant at all, but I'm genuinely surprised people are finding the 4.7 iPhone massive. It's no bigger than the average Android handset these days..

But if you've never owned an average Android handset then it feels massive.

True, though I jumped from a 4S to the Galaxy S4 and it all seamed pretty straightforward.
