Aye. Not seen any other phones with this problem. Maybe everyone is putting it in the wrong pocket? I expect there'll be a withering missive from Tim Cook toot sweet explaining how everyone is doing it wrong.

Jaguars are made of aluminium. Do you think it would be acceptable for them to bend while driving one?

I suspect people are more surprised and disappointed that something they've just spent £700 quid on can be broken through typical useage.

And perhaps they expected there to be some kind of strengthening underneath the aluminium.

Also, maybe they hadn't realised that metallurgy was required reading.

I've just got my 6, 128Gb in Space Grey, and transferred everything across on iCloud, so far am very impressed, I was concerned it would be too big but in use it feels just right.

I got a Cygnett carbon fibre case for it which is good, proper carbon fibre too.

I'll be interested how battery life stacks up, my 5 was one of the ones with the battery recall, so will be going back before I pass it on to my dad for him to use.

Just seen the vid online of the 6 bending. The Samsung Galaxy Note (same sort of size)was subjected to the same test and didn't bend. Apple have got a problem on their hands with this.

Erm, perhaps I am missing something obvious here, but those with the 6+ that are experiencing bending when the phone has been in their pocket, why do they not just:

a) Put it back in their pocket but the other way round, so it'll bend back itself

or

b) Bend it back themselves with their fingers?

Of, it shouldn't be doing it in the first place, but its not like the thing bends at 90 degrees is it? It is a SLIGHT bend that can probably be pushed back again fairly easily.

Indeed, or if the car bent around the doors where there was less material but they hadn't added reinforcements.
"Tough - you wanted a lightweight chassis - well it's lighter!" laugh

+1

A device 6mm thick made out of a lightweight aluminium frame and electronics, bends under the force of someone sitting down with it on a pocket.

Well no st Sherlock, stop the fking press!

It's not designed to have bending forces applied to it.

if I drove my car into a solid object, even at a very low speed. It would be bent out of shape and require repair. Is my car a defective model as well?

Ordered the 64GB 6 yesterday through three business. £99 upfront and £38/month +vat for a contract that I won't even come close to touching. Unlimited tethering was a big plus.

Current delivery date is 10th October so not too bad considering the consumer side were quoting 6 weeks (and more per month).
Holy cow batman...you are paying £1200 for a phone. ..!!! I have bought cars for less. .

Well you're only half correct, he's paying that for his phone and the usage for it.

I spend £1000 a year on my mobiles. Doesn't bother me as they get used enough.

I'll have £10 on Tim Cook announcing this as the official Apple solution.

Isn't the issue here that it is bending even if kept in a front pocket? i.e. it isn't being sat on, just pressed against the fabric.
Indeed. I have a 4S and I know from the times I've sat down with that in the front pocket of my jeans and it's dug itself into my leg that something larger and thinner would be in trouble when subjected to the same treatment. They could make an iPhone only slightly larger than a 4S and have as much screen as you get on a 6 if they re-thought the 'home' button and moved the facetime camera and the speaker closer to the edge.

Come on! I should be able to put a £700 phone in my front trouser pocket and sit down without fking it up. If it bends in that normal usage it's not fit for purpose. A phone should survive the normal day of an office worker in a front trouser pocket.

Has anyone got ee and have you tried wifi calling? I have not reception in my house on O2, so am considering going to ee and using wifi calling. I'm in the middle of a biggish city and seem to be in a mobile reception black spot!
