Come on! I should be able to put a £700 phone in my front trouser pocket and sit down without fking it up. If it bends in that normal usage it's not fit for purpose. A phone should survive the normal day of an office worker in a front trouser pocket.
I totally agree. I just read an article on the bbc with a quote from someone claiming that smartphones aren't designed to be carried in a trouser pocket. That to me is a stupid comment. A huge percentage of smartphone users carry their device in this way. If the device can't cope with it, then there's clearly a design fault.Matt.. said:

I'll take a stab at how it went - 'who gives a fk if it bends, we will just tell them not to keep them in their pockets! The 'thin' headline is too important to do anything about it'

I'm genuinely not being obtuse here, but are people actually surprised that a large, slim device made of alu, bends after being inserted into a trouser pocket and sat on?
+1A device 6mm thick made out of a lightweight aluminium frame and electronics, bends under the force of someone sitting down with it on a pocket.
Well no st Sherlock, stop the fking press!
It's not designed to have bending forces applied to it.
if I drove my car into a solid object, even at a very low speed. It would be bent out of shape and require repair. Is my car a defective model as well?

As I've said already, it doesn't happen to the Galaxy Note, large Xperia, etc, etc. Why does the iPhone have this problem and not the others?
Debatable. http://www.cultofmac.com/297404/get-bent-shocking-...

But this is Apple so it's a much bigger 'issue' any of these phones will be damaged if you mistreat them. Haven't read the story but I bet they were really in a back pocket and got sat on. Unless you've got very shallow front pockets I can't see how this happened - it stays flat against your leg when you sit down. You splash out 500+ quid on a relatively delicate electronic device and don't look after it - tough in my opinion.St John Smythe said:

Fortunately Carphone Warehouse a few doors down had a couple of demo units. In my opinion the 6+ is far too big for a phone, it's completely unwieldy and you have to handle it more like a small iPad. You would really struggle to get it in your pocket if you are wearing tight-ish jeans.
As for the iPhone 6, to be honest I found that a bit too big as well, I couldn't easily hit the top right part of the screen with my thumb without adjusting my grip of the phone, and that's the bit which gets heavily pressed in the Safari and Facebook apps. Whilst the curved sides look nice, the phone does feel a tad "plasticky" and cheap, the camera lens that sits proud of the back of the case isn't great either. I suspect it will prove to be quite slippery to handle and reasonably easily dropped.
I've had every generation of iPhone from release but I must say there's not much I have seen that makes me want to go out and spend that kind of money to replace my 5 at the moment.
