My smartphone history is - G1 > Desire > Galaxy S3

So I'm no Apple apologist, I just don't sit down with my phone in my pocket for the reasons I gave above. I could have gotten away with it with the G1 & Desire, but not the S3 - too uncomfortable, and like I said, I can feel the pressure on the phone.
My M8 lives in my pocket unless I'm using it or lounging about at home, when it's on charge. Just like the 4S and 3G before it.

My S3 has survived 2 years of being in the front pocket of various pairs of jeans that have gotten tighter and skinnier over the years and no! I'm not putting on weight biggrin

I can feel the pressure, especially when on my bicycle or motorbike yet no damage has been done. Maybe, as it's plastic, it does give a little but then straightens back up when released from it's confines, which it shares with a hanky. Yes, I still can't shake those Boy's Cubs habits but I no longer carry 2p for the phone.

One of the HTCs is made from metal, anyone heard of problems with that phone.

Shame about the Apple bending as it's the first time that I have been thinking of making the jump from Android, as the latest iPhone does look nice and the screen is around the same size as my Samsung.

I watched this last night - iphone-6-subjected-to-bend-test

I kept thinking that if I applied the same pressure to my SGS3, I would probably break or similarly damage it.

My screen and the radios are f*cked, hence why I'm after a 6, so I was actually half tempted to try it but chickened out in the end!
Was looking into this because of this thread.
Sadly, have found no numbers on pressure needed, but it does seem that the iPhone has the problem of being less flexible, because it's made out of metal:

The don't seem to be able to bend the SGN3 at all.
I think it's safe to say the iP6+ is a bit more fragile, and should be treated as such.

I am sure some fashion designer will come along and design the iTrouser (TM) with a specially designed pocket so you cant bend you shiny new iPhone.

Not everyone has the same preference as yourselves. I wear slim fitted clothes and an iPhone 4/5 size hits the sweet spot as far as size is concerned for my jacket pocket. If I'm not wearing a top with pockets then I'll put the phone in my front trouser pocket although I don't like the bulk there, or I would just store things in my bag.

I'm tempted to upgrade to a 6 however, it feels on the wrong side of too big so it'll be an iPhone 5S for me (my folks is going to pick up a new one for me in Hong Kong at the end of the month for £370 new).

I'm hoping that Apple will produce a smaller phone with the iPhone 6 body in the next year or so. It's comical people are carrying near tablet sized phones in their pockets - it's ridiculous.

Has anyone got ee and have you tried wifi calling? I have not reception in my house on O2, so am considering going to ee and using wifi calling. I'm in the middle of a biggish city and seem to be in a mobile reception black spot!
Yes, I'm on EE, and my first few calls were taken at home on my wifi. Initially I didn't realise, but the call quality was so unbelievably crisp. I don't want to over-state it, but it was like the other person was in the same room (they weren't they were 20 miles away, using an iPhone 5 on ios7 with EE/Orange).

Have since had calls away from Wifi and the call quality returned to 'normal', and have tried other phones and not experienced the same quality as call-over-wifi yet. Even the other person (iPhone5, ios7) could tell there was an improvement in quality!

Here's a crazy idea. How about the mobile companies let you have two sims with the same number and that share the minutes and data that you have paid for. Have a tablet/phablet/ipod/ipad with the ability to access the mobile web and you keep that in your bag/rucksack/inside jacket pocket and you also have a phone, remember them.

I miss them, the classic old Nokia 6210, the sliders and the flips, one of my faves the Motorola StarTac.

I'd love to answer the phone with a cool looking piece of hardware from the 90s.

Jack Bauer looks much more badass with his flip than answering a large piece of glass and plastic/aluminium.

Bring back the old phones I say and we'll get our signals back, we'll talk more rather than looking at pictures of cats.

I've still got one of these at home

it still works using the full credit card sized sim template and whats more it gets 5 bars throughout the house where as my S3 and my Desire only work near the windows.

Ditto, jacket pocket for me. I hope the bad publicity with coerce Apple into making a thicker 6S[tiffer?] with a bit more battery life - don't think i'll replace my 5 with a 6 just yet.

No they weren't, sorry. You were probably experiencing SIP/BICC calls which essentially transports the voice media over a different bearer between networks. It can sound very clear indeed.

If you try Facetime Audio you get the same high quality. Once you hear it you'll wonder why we've been putting up with such poor quality voice calls for so long!

Is everyone complaining about this a hipster? I've never felt my trousers squashing my phones!

'Wear looser trousers' is what Apple should be saying.

I'm just on my way to pick up an iPhone 6 plus. I had to reserve it at stupid o'clock this morning, and the only Apple store that appeared to have one this morning, (within a couple of hours of me) was festival place in Basingstoke. All I have to decide now, is whether to keep my old faithful 4s, or recycle it, and get some cash off of the 6.

biggrin

APPLE has admitted its new iPhone will bend if you are determined to bend it.

The company has been inundated with complaints from iPhone customers, but stressed it was impossible to make something that does not, ultimately, bend.

A spokesman said: “If you don’t want it to bend then don’t fking sit on it. How’s about that?

“And, actually, if it didn’t bend then the screen might crack and you’d end up with tiny shards of glass up your back passage. That’s no picnic.”

The spokesman added: “Tell you what, shall we just put a sticker on the front that says ‘not for sitting on’? Would that help, you fking idiots?”

I visited the Apple store at Braehead (Glasgow) last night and had a good play around with the display 6 and 6+ models, I prefer the 6+ purely for net browsing and gameplay but they didn't have any stock, ideally looking for a 64GB Space Grey. I've been checking the iReserve site almost hourly during daylight hours for the last few days with no joy, Apple UK website are still showing 3-4 weeks for delivery.

Suppose i'll just need to keep trying.

I haven't watched the vid yet, coz my work network is rubbish at present.

However, can I guess? I know you own an Oppo, and you're not Apple's biggest fan, so I'm gonna take a punt that the Oppo beats the iPhone? smile

No, it says that the iPhone is the better, but not by much.
