Ok, I've noticed some people are having issues connecting their iPhone 6's via bluetooth to their car stereo's and headsets.......and I'm having a similar problem which is driving me up the wall. The problems below have happened with iOS 8 and 8.0.2. Apologies in advance for the dull post.
I'm no tech-head but how complex is bluetooth technically?
With my "5" it paired to my Kenwood stereo and Plantronics headset easily. To connect to the stereo, all I had to do was press the button with the phone icon. This button would give me access to my phonebook and I could start and end a call also.
First thing, the "6" pairs with my headset and I can hear everything but cannot end a call with the headset, only the phone?!
With my car strereo the "6" pairs and plays music via bluetooth but It's trying to sort out the phone part which is driving me nuts.
To start a call I now have to press the volume knob on the stereo but cannot end a call from it as it puts the call on hold and dials the previous number which I contacted. Again, I have to end a call via the phone meaning the "phone" icon button on the stereo is now rendered useless. No ringtone or voices are coming through the car speakers.
Anyone else having the above problems??
bluetooth is just a communication protocol, the issues usually arise from the services that the device exposes through bluetooth. For some reason it's a case of reinventing the wheel each and every time. I have no idea why there are no standards emerging for common things done using bluetooth (or other such protocols that may emerge in future) that dictate how e.g. making a call, list of contacts, call history, voice control and so on should work, so that they're compatible across whomever implements the standard. It's not as if bluetooth is new!I'm no tech-head but how complex is bluetooth technically?

The items are 6-8 months old. If that's the case then I'll need to replace the stereo every iPhone upgrade. What a joke!

Chaps - currently waiting on Tesco mobile swapping my SIM, but can I turn my 6 on & download all my purchases, settings, contact etc from the cloud when it doesn't have a mobile signal (i.e. using Wifi) and while my 4S is still switched on?
I'm not sure you can. The phone asks for a SIM card during setup. You need to connect to itunes anyway for your phone to unlock itself and do its business.

Yes got the nano sim in the new 6, haven't switched the 6 on yet. Asked Tesco mobile to swap at their end 6 and half hours ago, they said it could take 24 hours, I admit I am not very patient, want to get the new 6 on and setup!
I did this with MrsTwo's 6+. As long as there is a sim inserted and you can connect to wifi you can set it up.Bbunter said:

Good choice. I'm using my 6+ now. I've gotten over the initial 'what have I done' thing, and I am liking it a lot. It's a cracking bit of kit.oobster said:

I've got the 6+ and the "what have I done" comment is spot on - I'm 50/50 on the handset - the features of the phone, particularly the camera are fantastic but I must admit I'm struggling with the size. I cycle (a bit) and I'm wondering what I will do in summer when I'm wearing shorts/t-shirt. It just doesn't seem to fit in any clothes I have. Mind you, when I compared it to the normal 6 that didn't seem to fit comfortably in pockets easily either...
Just out of curiosity - and please don't take this the wrong way but - why did you buy it? Was it a blind purchase?MrCheese said:

For cycling,I've got myself a 'cross body tablet bag' with the stickers I was collecting from Tesco. It's got a padded compartment inside which holds a tablet, or my phone, and keeps it away from the other kit in the main compartment. There's enough room for tubes, a gas pump, tyre levers, and a mini tool kit in the main bag. It's a good solution, for me anyway.Rawwr said:

I can't help thinking that, like a lot of modern things (clothes, SUVs etc), the iPhone 6 is designed for the slightly overweight city dwelling person who doesn't really do sports or activities; the cycling is just the start of my problems with the iPhone 6's size, lots more activities are going to need a bit of a re-think to carry a phone that big with me. However, I called into an Apple store on Friday to have a look at the 6 and I like it, so I'm going to have a good old hunt around online to try and make it work with the different sports and activities that I enjoy. It's time well spent trying to make it work, because short of an iPhone Mini, it seems that phones have swelled in size and will stay that way from now on, and I can't run my 4S on iOS 6 forever; as I'm guessing apps with get slower and slower as new versions come out, and stop working on the older iOS, as a few have already.
ETA: If you're interested, I've just started a thread on Pedal Powered asking for ideas or bags that people know fit an iPhone 6 sized phone: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
