I've got the 6+ and the "what have I done" comment is spot on - I'm 50/50 on the handset - the features of the phone, particularly the camera are fantastic but I must admit I'm struggling with the size. I cycle (a bit) and I'm wondering what I will do in summer when I'm wearing shorts/t-shirt. It just doesn't seem to fit in any clothes I have. Mind you, when I compared it to the normal 6 that didn't seem to fit comfortably in pockets easily either...
Just out of curiosity - and please don't take this the wrong way but - why did you buy it? Was it a blind purchase?
A fair question, there were 2 main reasons. I view some remote trading servers and the ability to view the entire desktop on the screen is a huge advantage. Secondly, I like having a good phone camera.

If I don't keep the 6+ I will be given a Samsung Note from work to do the remote viewing but then I'd be carrying around 2 phones...

I have a horrible feeling it is man-bag time...

st.

Set up my 6+ this morning (after Tesco eventually got round to doing the SIM swap) and it needed charged up straight away (wouldn't turn on when i took it out the box). Charged it (up to around 90% using the charger in the box) and got round to setting up some bits & bobs, then made my 1st call on it. Call lasted approx. 2 mins, as soon as I finished the call the whole right-hand side of the screen was darker than the left hand side.

Phone then displays a "iPhone needs to cool down before you can use it" message, and now it won't turn on at all.

Should have stuck with my 4S!

I'd have been worried about the fact it wasn't pretty much charged up, straight out of the box. Mine was at about 90%. It sounds like you may have a dud. I've not heard of the "iPhone needs to cool down message" before.

I was chatting to a guy at Vodafone over the weekend and he said Apple recalled 50% of the 6+ that were sent to Vodafone for day one release due to a component issue.

Yeah, sounds like it's a bit unwell! I've heard of that message before, but only with people leaving the phone out in the baking hot sun, etc.

Technical support were apologetic, but upon describing the symptoms I was told pretty much "It's dead, take it back to the shop for a replacement".

Does anyone techincal know how RAM works on the iphones? There has been a bit of talk about how the 6 only has 1gb RAM which may be considered low for the screen size etc?

I have noticed since getting it that I can basically never go straight back to an internet tab without the whole page reloading. Could this be down to that? Dont remember this happening on my 5 to be honest.

Is it just me or does the 6+ seem to be having more issues than the 6?

By the way, I mentioned this in an earlier post, but I went into an Apple store on Friday to have a play with an iPhone 6. To my eyes, it definitely didn't feel cheaper than my 4S, which is something I've heard a lot of people say (could it be the light weight for its size, i.e. the density, giving this illusion?). Secondly, I have very small hands for a bloke but didn't actually struggle too much to use it with one hand - I needed to shuffle it a little up and down in my palm with my fingers, but that wasn't too hard and there's always reachability (although that seems like more hassle than a shuffle if you can manager that). I also didn't feel I could drop it easily, which is something people have said, although I should add that I barely perspire and it is obviously far from the height of summer, maybe this is why people worry about dropping theirs? TouchID I thought was brilliant (I'm coming from a 4S), but it might annoy me if I can't register my thumbprint and index finger print, because I use my thumb to unlock the phone when using it out of my pocket, but obviously not when it's on my desk at work, in fact using my thumb on a desk would be very awkward.

In terms of the actual size, yes, it's going to cause me problems cycling, running etc, but I have to hold my hands up and admit that it was nowhere near as bad as I thought for general day to day use - it slipped into my pocket easily and sat there comfortably for as long as I dared in a shop! (and I realised then that the weight is the main thing you feel in your pocket, so being lighter than my 4S, it was fine).

The plus is pretty huge, yes. I'll stick to my iPad and phone combo I think, but I/we always knew that'd be the case with the plus. I'm close to buying an iPhone 6, I just need to sort out how I carry it doing activities/sports and then I'll get one. There is a small risk it'll be too big and I'll have to E-Bay it and return to using my 4S, but that's probably a £300 gamble at most, which I'm happy with.

Put the 4s next to the 6 when you get it. The 4s looks (and feels) like a pre-historic brick, with a dull small screen, when you put them right next to each other. Considering how highly I regarded the 4s when I got that (coming from a 3g), it really is quite an eye opener, what an advance the 6 is, over the 4s.

Just got the new 6, not all impressed to be honest. I suspect had Steve been alive and they stuck this on his desk it would have went straight in the bin. Can imagine his comments being along the lines of "when you came to work this morning did it read Samsung across the door…no…. well fk off then and don't come back till you have designed an Apple product, we lead, we don't follow"

Top insight, thanks! We'd just been chatting about birds and football for a hundred pages and missed it entirely.
