I very rarely post in Apple related threads as I'm not all that clued up when it comes to smartphones, but I do frequent the threads. And, as per usual with Apple related threads this thread has descended into arguments, but this time I agree with Zes Pak. Apple Pay isn't better than NFC, it's the same. I wouldn't be surprised if the hardware and some of the software was the same. NFC might catch on now that Apple are now as Apple are a company that people like to follow.
I suspect you're right.

As far as I can tell, the new Apple phones are not true NFC devices - in that Apple are restricting NFC access to it's own ecosystem only. Whether they open this more broadly, only time will tell.

But as others have suggested here, whilst Apple are typically late to the party, they will drive acceptance because there's a ready market of folk who trust Apple and as you say, like to follow.

Try expensify for expense claims, web page and mobile apps. Bloody brilliant, will stop the bulging wallets as well.

they will however give a st about what outlets that can actually pay using the technology at, and the ecosystem of partnerships is something Apple actually have achieved, as opposed to previous efforts which haven't given the slightest st about uptake.
Can you expand on this point please? Are there vast multitudes of outlets who will accept applepay that don't accept NFC payments?

Where did you keep it? Does this mean you're number 10 in the world?

There's loads. Keep an eye out for the contactless symbol when you're out shopping.
Edit. That's NFC, no idea about Apple.

I assumed (incorrectly I guess) that the phone could be used where-ever there is contactless payment? Waitrose etc..?

Or does it need to be specially configured for Apple?

That is true for EE Cash on Tap. I literally have no idea on the Apple implementation so I can't answer that, sorry.

Unless he has monster hands that looks like a 6. I thought it was only the +.

I still need to update from iOS 8.0.

surprisingly few outlets actually take contactless today in UK. Many have the equipment but just haven't enabled it. I tried it in Boots the other day and the woman looked at me like i was a fking spaceman. She swivelled around a sign towards me that said "contactless don't work" (that's how I interpreted it anyway). Why the fk was it not facing the customer to begin with, thus saving the stupid inert interaction?

Consumer Reports showed that the iPhone 6 is actually easier to bend than the 6+.

wink - Most likely similar to how apple reported the charging circuit issues with macbooks a few years ago - just deny it and provide a free battery, then record it as something else.

A bit like the devices shipped vs devices sold into channel vs sold to an actual end customer game that most manufacturers also play

Can I buy an iPhone outright sim free from the Apple store and then set it all up with my various accounts via Wifi as I will have to wait a while for my smaller sim?

Or is it a case of no sim, it's a brick?

I've used it in Boots, maybe that was an isolated store? Off the top of my head there's the Post Office, WH Smiths, McD's, Pret, Costa, Greggs, Wetherspoons, JL, Co-op, the list goes on and on.

Actually, cheers google.

I've seen that - the force required to bend the 6 is lower than that required to bend a 6+. But that's not real world, and the reports I've seen have only been about the 6+ bending. Hence the question; does the 6 actually bend in real world use?
