Genuine question; are iPhone screens made of a poor quality glass as they seem to smash or crack relatively easily, I have a Lumia 920 with Gorilla Glass, I've dropped it countless times; on the corners, edges, back and on the screen and all I have to show on the screen are a few very minor and light scratches?
All iPhones since the 5 have Gorilla Glass. As you say, the same as any other higher end smartphone. However, thickness and shape affect the strength, so I'd imagine the iPhone 6 glass will be weaker due to thickness.
I thought the 6 had sapphire glass, which is far stronger and scratch resistant, but less flexible than gorilla glass.

Unless the new sapphire glass is also called gorilla glass?

No Sapphire glass, GT Advanced Technologies makers of Sapphire glass rumoured to once have been used by Apple for the 6 screens have filed for bankruptcy - http://www.valuewalk.com/2014/10/judge-in-gt-advan...

As for screen protectors I have used a tempered glass one on my iPhone 6, however as mentioned it doesn't fit the form of the screen perfectly. These ones look good, I will be ordering one once I find a uk stockist http://www.iloome.com/iPhone-Screen-Protector-Onyx...

Not for the main display, but I believe it's used for the camera and fingerprint sensor.

I've had my 6 24 hours now and almost got used to it, I find myself pressing the top of the phone to turn it off and starting to type my pin in to unlock it. I think it is too big for my hands - the 5 was the perfect size - I could reach all corners of the screen using it in one hand - with the 6 I struggle to reach the far right corner (using it left handed) to press return on the keyboard/switch tabs in Safari. Other than that, everythng else is great, TouchID is brilliant and a worthwhile addition, the screen is great to use and I prefer the more rounded design.

If Apple annouce a 4" version next year I'll swap.

rofl phone companies have never given a st about loyalty. When it comes to brand new iphones, you've more chance of doing a st and finding an iphone in it than getting a discount. Give it a go though.
I managed to get a discount on my iPhone 6 128GB, O2 had messed me around and still weren't able to tell me when my phone would arrive 2 weeks after they said it would when I ordered, so I went to EE, who said they'd sold the last of their grey 64GB ones that morning, so I could either wait up to 2 weeks, or I could have a 128GB for half the usual difference and get it next day. I'm not sure I'll need to extra storage, but I'm sure I'll find a use for it!

I've just got my 6, 128Gb in Space Grey, and transferred everything across on iCloud, so far am very impressed, I was concerned it would be too big but in use it feels just right.

I got a Cygnett carbon fibre case for it which is good, proper carbon fibre too.

I'll be interested how battery life stacks up, my 5 was one of the ones with the battery recall, so will be going back before I pass it on to my dad for him to use.
That is the case I got too - I had one on my iPhone 5 for 2 years and thought it was great, so ordered one as soon as I ordered the iPhone 6.

Has anyone made use of the Health app yet? I opened it for the first time today to find its been recording since I got the phone!

Average steps per day so far since mid sept is 6,000 which I thought was quite a lot considering I sit at a desk most of the day.
I went for a pretty long walk this morning and there it is, 18,000 steps recorded and ado how many there were to each minute throughout the rest of the day.

It links up to a few apps including my fitness pal which is quite good. Think I'll try to start logging properly again so I can see just how lazy I am!

Tech is getting quite integrated with general life now. I quite like all this geeky stuff.
I've just had a look at that and my steps have been recorded for the last couple of days - briliant! I had been using the Health app on my iPhone 5, but manually entering my weight/body fat% and syncing it with Strava for distance cycled and have found it good for motivation.

i was referring to brand new as in just released, it's been out for a month or so now so the heat has died down a bit.

Anyone else have 'orientation' issues? If I watching a video in landscape and adjust the volume the volume square is still in portrait mode. Also if I get a notification while in landscape, the phone switches to portrait and back again. (Does that make sense?)

Yes, I've sometimes had a portrait mode keyboard blocking the screen in You Tube landscape mode.

I ordered mine on the 12th and got it on release day.
Paid £130 for a 128gb with Vodafone when it should have cost me over £200 (based on my monthly rental). They also gave me 7gb data (and 5gb wifi hotspot data) when my monthly rental price should only give 2gb.

Deals are always there with the service providers.

£130 (a £70 discount) and then £27 a month for an iPhone 6 128Gb on a 7Gb plan, ordered on release day?

£207 phone... £77 'goodwill' account credit.
Monthy is actually higher than £27, but about half(ish) if you round up wink
Data package add on FOC for 24 months.
It's quite amazing what you can do as a ( very long term) business customer who calls cancellations department rather than the upgrade department.

I could put a screen shot of the email I have confirming all of this but I would have to adjust it in Photoshop to remove my personal stuff... And if I do that I would just be accused of editing the numbers too.

I only paid half what I should have when I got my 64gb iphone5 two years ago, again on release day and again ordered via the cancellations team.

I think the official name for that department is 'retentions team'.

I paid £99 for a 64GB 6 on EE.

18 month contract with myself, the OH and her father on an unlimited calls and texts bundle sharing 20GB data between us.

£75 a month.

OH got my old 5S and her Dad had her old 5.

Everyone was happy and he gives me £25 a month to cover his 1/3.

I thought that was quite a good deal.

I had a 6 plus in my hand yesterday. Actually smaller than I thought - I'm definitely going to upgrade to a Plus once my 5 contract is due.

Why does the health app record virtually every movement of the phone as a step? I've taken 7 steps sitting down typing this message!

I find it quite accurate. Most days I average about the same steps/distance.

On Thursday I was in a meeting/on the road and covered a third of the normal distance.
