I've gone for the 64gb 6 Plus also.

Just hope, after my wife's disaster, that I don't destroy within a week!
she'll have yours and give you the broken one. Buy the case before the phone!

Do I want a I6 or a 5S?

I could do with more than the 16gb I have now bit 64gb seems a lot. I love the screen and thinness of the 6 and strongly dislike the metal edge of the 5s that my 4s already has.

But I have small hands and the 6 could too big. Thoughts from current users?
go to an apple shop and have a look?
None nearby.

I breifly went into the O2 shop the other day but they were all clamped into stands.

I like the thiness a lot so I suppose it does come down to how easy it is to hold.

I had a play at the new Edinburgh Apple Store a few days ago - the 6 was OK size-wise, but the 6+ just too big for me.

Not sure about the feel however - very different from my 5S.

sorry i wasn't being a nob i mean it's one of things that's very subjective. You won't really get a straight answer to your question. The 6 is better, but not vastly so... the 5S handles a lot more solid but then you've said you're not keen on the feel. The camera, speed, battery life in the 6 are not such big improvements that it would be a no-brainer. The only thing that might come into play is that you might not be able to get iOS 10 on the 5S, but that's a way off yet.

Right.

Picked up my iphone 6 on Tues - first ever iphone, having always had android phones in the past.

No real surprises tbh as I've used iOS kit in the past, but two things are *really* bugging me.

1) the lack of a dedicated led notification light (yes, I know you can utilise the camera led, but it's a poor substitute and only flashes at long intervals)

2) the scrolling speed in safari - unfuriatingly slow!

The led thing is the main reason I have steered clear of iphones in the past, but I thought I'd give it a shot and see if I could live with it, but it's more annoying that I thought it would be irked

Sometime im in Safari or similar and i can get the top of the page to come to approx half way down the screen, this must be a design feature to allow you to reach the 'top' of the page while not changing your grip on the phone.

but...ive no idea how i do it or how to get it back to normal (yes, cant get it up! :O )

Any one else had this? or know how to do it?

That's the reachability function.

You activate & de-activate it by soft double-tapping the home button.

1) never bothered me, I've had phones with and without, of course the "skylight" on the Find 7 is a thing of beauty now, but I could do without
2) Still? Really bothered me on my 4S, especially with PH in "man size" pages, takes ages to ge to the bottom. Yes, it's silky smooth but dog slow hehe. Is chrome equally slow?

I had a bizarre moment yesterday eve. My 6 was on charge in the afternoon. unplugged it before I left to cycle home, connected the Bluetooth to my Garmin, got home took the phone out of my bag and nothing, completely dead, wouldn’t turn on, nothing. Plugged it into a charge still nothing. Had a shower etc. came back to it still wouldn’t turn on. Tried a hard restart which worked luckily it was on 91% battery. It’s been fine since.
Same thing happened with my 3 week old 5S. Was on 60% battery then died and wouldn't turn on, completely dead, wouldn't show the "charge me" symbol. Next day started showing the "charge me" symbol but wouldn't charge or turn on, a hard reset fixed it but I didn't want it to happen again when I needed it!

Rang apple care and told them it had also had been having weird alien noises when trying to call instead of ring tone. They arranged an express replacement and sent a new one out next day for exchange.

Worth doing in my opinion as you can't be sure it isn't faulty and it may do it again!

Aye, I downloaded Chrome this morning to see if that would help any but no, still stupidly slow.

Could be a deal breaker tbh.

EDIT: *IN* furiatingly!

After a very impatient wait the 6 should get delivered today from Three. It's a business contract hence the wait.

I've ordered a Spigen Air Skin from ebay for £9.99 instead of a bulky case. I've looked for screen protectors but all of the ones I've seen stop short of the edges due to the bevel. Probably means I'll have to leave it naked unless anyone has any suggestions?

Tried Opera Mini, or Opera Coast browsers?

Their server based compressed pages might speed it up and speed up the scrolling too.

  1. The 5(S) is much, much nicer to hold than the 4(S) because the edge is "bevelled"
  2. The 5S will be obsolete a year before the 6 is though, and with apple products I'd strongly recommend not paying over the odds for their older models. If you do it, you should go all the way imho.
  3. The 6 is a big phone for a 4.7", and a big difference with the 4(S), you have to work out for yourself if the gain in display real estate is worth losing one-handed operation.
People like myself could've upgraded to the iP6 but chose iP5S, reasons being that after having a 4 for 3 years, I was happy with the size as it hit the sweet spot. The 5S is a better phone to hold with the bevel edge as I felt the 6 was a bit too rounded not to mention it felt too big in my pocket - that sealed the deal for me.

I didn't pay the ridiculous UK price as I my mum bought it for me from Hong Kong for £370, not an absolute bargain but useful saving from the UK price.

People spew the same bull5577 claiming that as soon as a new generation comes out, the previous 1/2 gen is dead. I ran my iP4 for 3 years without any hitches. It is simply an excuse to justify a new purchase and make yourself feel all the better.

Before the flamethrowers come out, all IMO off course wink

Anyone else having issues with calendar entries not displaying in the notification centre?

So I have multiple calendar entries saved but according to the notification centre, I heve nothing scheduled.

Getting rapidly pissed off with this phone tbh

Didn't realise anyone actually used Apple's calendar! Try Week Calendar or Calendar 5. Prefer the former, but the latter has a very good widget that works.

Didn't realise anyone actually used another calendar. I use it as do all my colleagues and friends.
