mine has started some very odd behaviour while docked in the golf using the native cable (with an extension), and i can't figure out whether it's the phone or the car. Sometimes it just says "error", sometimes it says "device not supported", sometimes it plays the wrong song when i select one, and sometimes it just pauses for ages. fking ste.

It's probably the cable if it's aftermarket. Mine started playing up all over the place with 'device not supported' amongst other things. I was using a third party cable.

A trip to the Apple Store to reclieve myself of £20(!) and it's worked perfectly ever since.

Theories are that on the occasional updates, they disable some cables each time. Probably a load of nonsense conspiracy but mine suddenly stopped for no reason without doing anything to my phone.

Try an official cable.

problem is, there isn't an equivalent official cable. it's a lightning extension cable, and Apple don't make them. Reason I need one is the standard VW lightning adapter only fits the phone if you don't use a case. So annoying.

Ah yes one of those I had one on my polo. In the glovebox right? I only ever used an iPod for that.

Not sure where you can go. Is your 'extension' a proper Apple manufactured product? Or is that the bit you can't get?

Going to send mine back for the front facing camera issue. If they swap it out and I get a new one with no dents and scratches, that'd be a bonus.
They will probably replace the display and home button, which will sort any scratches on the front out at least.
My battery is also Buggered! Reporting say 40% and jumps down to 10%.

Anyone else have this?

thinking outside the box as such, i've bought a new case instead... one that has an open bottom so i can dock directly!

Well as for anything on a fairly new iPhone go through the support chat on the Apple site, they should be able to get you to do diagnostic test and if they can't figure what is wrong from that they will send you to an Apple shop, and they can do more in depth tests which will be able to tell if the battery is buggered pretty easily.

It can accept Bluetooth streaming too, but it canes the battery and interferes with phone calls. Not sure how as when a call comes in it stops the music. Also power can be solved with a charge cable... Might be worth looking at I guess. Always assumed BT streaming was somehow inferior.

Cables can make a difference - I develop headunits and a lot of customer complaints can be traced back to cheap leads etc. we keep a set of cheap leads & Apple Mfi certified leads for back to back tests.

How long is the extension you are using, we have experienced issues when the cable run from the iPhone to the headunit is over the 2m USB standard.

It's only 2ft or so. Cablejive one. Cost £16.

Is it mfi (Made for iPhone) certified? 2ft shouldn't be too long, but you also have to take into account the length of cable between where you plug it in and the back of the head unit - car makers don't always use the most direct route either.

OK too many pages to trawl through everything but I'm tempted between an Apple Certified Refurbished iPhone 5 or maybe a new 5C, just saying fk it and getting a 6.

I'm currently on Android and just fancy a change of platform.

Affording it isn't an issue, I am struggling with reconciling the cost of the 6 though - anyone know of any storming deals or is it still as simple as they're shifting so nobody needs to try very hard?

Right now I'm on a simply 30 day rolling contract @ £10/month which is fine for my usage.

If you can stomach the costs I think it's cheaper to buy outright. I did and have a £15 rolling contract. I think it was a couple hundred cheaper over 2 years or something.

Best contract I've found is £99 upfront and £28/month for 1000 minutes, unlimited texts and 2GB data on EE.

That's pretty much identical to buying outright and paying £10/month on rolling contract.

My other halves contract is £99 upfront and £27 a month, unlimited calls and texts, 2gb data.

I think she said it was from mobiles.co.uk, but I can't find the deal now.
