iPhone mini would have me interested.

Anything else is just more of the same 'brick innovation'... ie, all the stuff I just do on a laptop/tablet/pc better in the first place.

Me too, love my iPhone 5 but would prefer a smaller formed one, say 3 icons across by 4/5 down

I really hope there's at least the option of an iPhone at the current size. I also hope the protruding camera thing turns out to be inaccurate. What about when it's sitting on a table, will it rock slightly when you tap the left side of the screen?

wp8 strikes a nice balance between being simple and clean whilst giving you app "tiles" that can show what's going on in the world. It is very nice to use, but it still needs some things ironing out and some apps, even big hitters, are abysmal.

+1

I hate this obsession with 'thinner', and all smartphone manufactures are guilty of this. Why not have the iPhone 6 at 8mm thick instead of the rumoured 6mm, and use that extra 2mm to have a bigger battery that would actually make the damn thing usable for more than a day, instead of having to spend a large chunk of its life connected to a bloody charger?

smaller?! The 5 for me was too small. Too tall and too narrow, reading websites on it was awful, like reading through a letter box. Hard to type on as well when they tweaked the keyboard in iOS 7. They need a 5 inch device Imo.

i have a 6 inch lumia 1520, its a mite too large. But the battery life is epic coming from an iphone. Regularly end the day on 50-60% remaining!! Frequent use as well!

agreed. but I really don't get why people have to be one or the other.

In the same way that I wouldn't buy two similar cars one after the other, I make sure each phone I get is a different OS.

Going from an iphone 5 to 5s is a tiny pointless jump. Within a few minutes you will forget it's a new phone, what a waste of a whole load of money.

anyhow, completely OT, yes a range of phones small/large would be better, but please keep the hardware as good in the smaller ones.

For people who want a huge brick phone/browser/typing device then just buy the big one.

But a mini/nano iPhone would make a lot of sense for people who don't need all these functions and are happy to have typing/browsing/watching video less heavily covered because they have a lifestyle that doesn't need it.

You could say why have an iPad or iPad mini, we just have a range of devices to fit our needs and I'd happily take a smaller iPhone for my needs as I have all the other devices to cover off doing actual productivity tasks with any way.

iPhone for me is 50% phone, 25% music, 15% emails checking (but not replying), and about 10% browsing the internet but not caring it's small because if I did I'd just go sit at the PC or get my laptop.

If the rumours are true, and they have switched to a much larger form factor, I think I'll be buying a 5S second hand, and then keeping it for as long as possible. The 5 and 5S are the perfect size IMHO. I currently have a 4S, which I switched to from a Nexus 4 and the size difference was a welcome change. The Nexus 4 was at the limit of a usable phone size for me, any bigger than 4.7" is just ridiculous. Heck, not long ago, even 4.7" was ridiculous for a phone. Now 5-6" devices seem to be the norm and they look ridiculous, especially in womens' small hands.

Agreed. I can use this iPhone 5 with one hand, I have to use two for my work HTC One. I don't want a phone that's bigger than the 5.

It'll be as accurate as all the "what the next iPhone will look like" news stories. They're a great and easy way of generating traffic to your website.

That said, the Samsung Galaxy S2 had a protruding camera and it wasn't really an issue.

If the new 6 is bigger then i'll get one, I don't want to be carrying around an iPad mini-sized phone, but a bit bigger than my current 4S would be good.

The 6 is going to have to be a lot bigger & better than it is now if Apple want to gain lost ground on the Samsung Galaxy 5 & HTC One M8.

I have a 4S & never once have considered getting a 5 / 5C / 5S. They weren't enough of an improvement.

A million times this.

I hate using anything larger than a 4" display on a phone. Previous to my current 5S I had a HTC One S which I picked over the One X I think it was despite it being below it in the model line up due to it being a better size.

This is exactly the reason why the iPhone needs a partner in the range.

A bit bigger one to suit those who do much more on their iPhone, and then a smaller one for people who want a smaller device because they do less things on it that demand the bigger screen.

They've done it with iPad and iPod, it's about time they did it with their phone as one size doesn't fit all.

I'm just hoping that if they're now doing a 4.7" and a 5.5" model, they also do a 'Mini' 4" model alongside with the same internal specs. It's actually the main reason I switched to an iPhone after my Nexus 4 self destructed. They were keeping to sensible sizes, whilst every other manufacturer seemed to be making them bigger and bigger.

Until they made the 4s run ( deliberately IMHO), very slow on ios 7. Much slower than the old ios. Clever way of making you upgrade.

I've actually found my 4S brilliant on iOS 7. So much so, that whilst I want to upgrade to a newer iPhone, I've no real justification.

Same here. My 4S has been excellent on IOS7.

I think Apple definitely need to release the next phone in two sizes. There is such a big market for x large handsets and they are missing out on sales.

As already posted, let's just hope they look after their existing customers who like a normal sized phone that you can use one handed.
