When can we realistically expect to see the iPhone 6?

June to October I think but more than likely October. The 5 came out in October 2012 and the 5C/5S in June 2013......I think!

I upgraded to the 5 on the week it came out so hopefully will do the same when the 6 is released.

I'm fairly certain Apple just do things like clockwork and do things the same every year. So expect the iP6 release to be the same as all the others wrt official info and date ranges etc.

I think Apple definitely need to release the next phone in two sizes. There is such a big market for x large handsets and they are missing out on sales.

As already posted, let's just hope they look after their existing customers who like a normal sized phone that you can use one handed.
I really want an iPhone "Maxi". Half way between an iphone and an ipad mini would be ideal.

I'm in the same boat here. Popped into a couple of phone places today and couldn't believe the size difference of the S5 and One M8 to my iphone 5. For those who've gone from Apple to Android how have you found the change of OS?

Can you still use iTunes for music?

My wife's adamant she wants to stick with apple but I'm open to change but interested to know about the change from one to the other etc.

When will the major hype start on the 6 do people think?

I know things have been said but at the moment it's only hear say.

My 24 month contracts due around August.

Cheers LordG interesting read.

Glad they are not releasing the bloody uber phone first I cannot see the point in something that size as you'd start to have to carry a bloody man bag round to put the damn thing in.

Liking how its border less as well.

September release date they are saying so might have to hang on for a month or two before upgrading then.

Think I can live with that.

Im fairly far down the apple path now due to the various iphone, ipad, appletv compatability with one another, but cant help but feel that they are being thoroughly left behind now in the smartphone race unless they do something drastic and different. Samsung, whilst their phones are not perhaps the highest quality, just hit them out every few months its seems which means they are always up to date.

All the rumours coming out of manunfacturing etc are suggesting its just a larger sized iphone which we currently have. Some new software may help things but im currently jailbroken and already have a lot more than Ios7 actually has now - messaging from anywhere with apps in the background, swipe keyboard, any theme I want, custom screens and icons etc etc. Not important to some people but I like them. They may surprise us who knows but it does seem a bit tired now...

Ill still be getting one though hehe

To fair the whole market has matured. There's never going to be the excitement there once was and there's unlikely to be any amazing innovations that we used to see. Just faster, bigger phones with more storage space. Remind you of any other area of tech?

Apple are losing market share but they still made more money in Q1 of this year than any other so let's not kill them off just yet...

daft too.

there are so many possible inventions and progresses in mobile technology I could this of that would be amazing. but it's not those ones that are ground breaking, its the ones you can't even imagine yet.

Are any of those due to arrive in the next, say, 7 years? That's how long the iPhone has been with us.

And are they that exciting really? Compared to the impact of having a smartphone in the first place, having your email, maps, etc etc in your pocket and do on. A malleable phone? Techie clever maybe, but what's it really bring that makes it revolutionary in what it delivers?

You could throw it at your misses and not get done for ABH in a argument?

the part quoted was changes, not the single change to smartphone, which actually happened over several devices and several years.
the final move to iphone was only the massive change for people that had missed out on the other progression. just as my mum going from her house phone to a wp8 phone now would be dramatic.

it's media hype that causes the effects you are describing.

and yes thought control in a phone would be mental. and the other point of will it happen in 7 years is a bit daft tbh. because we don't know what will happen.

ph christ, just realised I have tried a discussion in an iphone thread. why does logic and sense always dissapear when apple is mentioned?!?

There's a big difference between launching a product and launching a new version of an existing product. The latter will be very rarely able to compare with the former.
