Do you know if you're on VS8? Seems to be well poorly. Zero response to my support ticket and no phone number for urgent queries irked

My email and site are both running fine.
Getting a bit fed up with the spam though. Was fine about 6 months ago then it was like someone flipped a switch

It's funny you mention spam. I set up a mailbox for an employee about two years ago, thing is, I never set it up on his ipad and it was never used as he left shortly after. You can imagine my surprise when, a few months ago, I started receiving spam to this never used email address!

For the amount of problems this company is having I'd recommend that everyone who is still with them starts taking regular back ups, just in case the worst happens...

On the back of this thread I set up a script that automatically e-mails us a zipped copy of all our databases overnight thumbup

We have our own Exchange server.

VS8 appeared to come up briefly, has gone back down again now.

thumbup I now have a replica of our site there that I can restore the db to if I decide to make a full switch.

This is the first proper outage I can remember in a number of years.

Have you tested a full restore - it's amazing how easy it is to miss a folder or a bit of configuration - and much easier to fix the issue before you have to do it for real.

When I was having this problem, I could usually fix it by restarting the mail service once or twice.

It also helped if I sent the email immediately after doing a manual send/receive within the client.

Ultimately though it's been broken for ages and it doesn't look like whoever looks after the place can or will fix it.

Everything's nice and sunny over here on TSOHost and after transferring my original server to them I've just rented another one for a client of mine, so Reg1 have lost two chunks of revenue from me because of all the nonsense. Funny way to run a business!

Well I plumped for TSOhost today, I'm sure they'll struggle to migrate my massively complex webshyte - in more that 30s wink Went for the cheapest cloud hosting option at £14.99, so down from £50odd at R1 for a year, as really it's just for the email these days.

I guess my domains will still be managed by Serverstream/Tucows but that's probably not the end of the world.

Cheers,
Rob

Domains are a free migration on TSOHost

I'll be moving when mine is up later in the year. Fed up of spam, getting 5-6 a day, would be much more if it wasn't for the extra blacklisting rules I've added.

Support used to be amazing, you'd raise a ticket and it would be dealt with in minutes.

I mentioned it a few weeks back, like you say a switch flipped and fked their spam controls, iirc there used to be a form of mass spam capture implemented before the emails were delivered, now it all appears to be done by the spam assassin on the account.

Hopefully, I might just have missed that bit of blurb, on the web migration stuff it goes on about you (me) having to update the name servers as they (TSO) can't do that, which I thought if t was in their control should be more straight forward. Anyway, it makes a change and I look like a total pro dicking around with a cloud server admin panel wink

Cheers,
Rob

And documented what I had to do hehe

I test restore the live db back to TSO on a weekly basis and use it as a testing ground for updates at the mo.

Sod's law, I found an obscure bug today, my PDF documents won't print from IE8 on XP but they print from 8.1 running it in emulation mode. Took a while for that one to surface irked
