Why has Register1 gone down the pan?
im assuming Jamie sold it on (from what I have heard and read here and facebook) and now someone has now taken over.Jamie says he sold R1 on this topic: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
He may have just sold part of it off. It was vaguely the same time his F40 arrived

Serverstream was always the actual entity and I assume the more valuable component of the deal compared to Reg1 judging by the offerings of the two.
but I wondered if he'd sold the brand and is now just doing co-location/managed hosting rather than the lower end stuff.Maybe he has sold half and has someone else doing the day to day?
Yeh It's been a common occurrence for the last few weeks and my site's been up and down like a we's draws too. (Can you say that these days?).
I'm another one migrating to TSOHost ASAP.
Why do we have to do this every few years? Can't there be just one hosting company who keeps their QOS high all the time?

Getting a lot of 'Connection dropped by IMAP server' when logging into SquirrelMail over the web and mail on my laptop is painfully slow plus keeps failing all together. Currently its simply failing to access and download emails..
Think I am paid up for another 18 months though..
Had this for several weeks and they said it was me doing it and nothing to do with their servers... currently working ok, but I will move in April as I dont need to kept being told that its something Im doing that is causing issues, when I have followed all their instructions to the letter on setup and all they can do is tell me the same thing over and over again.Think I am paid up for another 18 months though..
Even got blamed for not using Squirrel and routing it through my mac/outlook.

I get this now and again, it tends to be really bad for a day or two and then goes away. Never worked out what was causing it.Psychobert said:

Me too, I got 3 years for the price of 2. I only went with Register1 because everyone on PH said how brilliant it was... FurtiveFreddy said:
I'm with TSOHost now. Painless so far but migration not completed yet.
Very glad I decided to go with monthly renewals on Register1...
I made the switch yesterday, although they're still transferring my data across at the moment so we're not fully migrated yet. I'm paid up with Reg1 until 22 March, but I wanted to build in a bit of extra time in case of problems. And TSOhost are a lot cheaper anyway.Very glad I decided to go with monthly renewals on Register1...

They used to be excellent. They've only gone downhill in the past few months.Gassing Station | Computers, Gadgets & Stuff | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
