They definitely have them where I was - Glasgow Buchanan Street. I know for sure because I bought one. You could phone them and ask them what the deal is - 0141 204 3922

It is. I'm not sure who decided to begin doing all these drop test videos but I always find them a bit wasteful. I'm not a lentilist by any means but I do wonder what happens to the devices when they go back to HTC or where-ever with all the scratches and what not.

But saying that I absolutely love the 'Will It Blend' videos by Blendtec, so there you go.

I think it's a useful indicator as to the robustness of various handsets. Whilst not very scientific, it is at least pretty accurate to the kinds of drops and falls a phone might typically encounter in the real world.

I agree, it is nice to know it won't shatter into a billion pieces when I throw it across a carpark getting out of the car.

It's nice to have a visual voicemail notification again.

Useful feature - HTC put a nice quality gel case in the box whilst I await my Dot View Case.

Not so great - the bottom flap which is meant to plug the headphone and power is already flapping off.

My girlfriends galaxy S2 does this, but it's a miracle that thing still works. It's dropped on nearly a daily basis!

I'm toiling over a decision that I'm sure I'm not alone on; Samsung Galaxy S5 or HTC One M8?

My current Galaxy S3 contract is now up for renewal, and I was going to go straight for the S5, but having had a play with a demo unit S5 and the M8 side-by-side, I'm unsure. The M8 trounces the S5 in terms of build quality, yet the S5 seems to have the marginally more appealing spec; slightly faster processor, better camera (the M8's has some great features, but seems to require considerable effort to get the best out of) as well as the much shouted about water-resistance, fingerprint sensor and heartbeat monitor.

Granted, the last two I'd probably use once then never bother with again, but the camera and water-resistance are certainly worth taking a bit of time to make a decision over. Or are they?

I always thought that a water proof phone would be a brilliant idea. Thinking about it though I only ever spend a few minutes in the shower and don't take baths it probably wouldn't get used that much.

Is it any good for taking pictures/video underwater?

I'd likely never use it for underwater photography; the likes of the S5, or even the Xperia, can only be used in freshwater, and are only certified for maximum depth of 1m for duration of 30 minutes. I'd be more concerned with the peace-of-mind that I could soak it - either deliberately or accidentally - and not have to worry about it.

The GF got one of these yesterday.

If anybody is interested; EE are doing the M8 with unlimited texts and calls, 4GB of date (4G), £30 up front and then £37 a month. Offer ends 10th April.

I've had a bit of a play with it and it looks very good. The first thing I did was watch the new Godzilla trailer on youtube (chosen as it's a HD trailer and is very bassy) and it looked and sounded amazing. The speakers are unreal and produce a impressive bass note.

I'm sure I'll end up messing about with it this week, so I'll post any relevant updates. First impressions though, very good.

HTC might be onto a winner here, especially as the Z2 (it's main competition in my eyes) has been delayed again.

Agree with you about the Z2 being competition. Oddly though I think the S5 will romp away as people will just buy it as a default upgrade from their S4...

The One M8 really is excellent and deserves to do well.

Samsung has become the default not iphone choice.

I was talking to my other half about her next phone last night. She has an S3 at the moment. She asked me what Samsung mine was, I explained to her about Android and then she said "yeah, but android is Samsung right?". Infuriating.

The S5 will sell well becuase of the brand name, just like the iphone does. The M8 and Z2 will fight it out for 2nd place in the market.
