I mentioned this a while back, with photos to demonstrate how the metering changed (see the four pics of the garden with the sun over the wall/trees. Changing the focal point of the picture dramatically alters the white balance and exposure.

What the M8 seems to struggle with is exposing the whole image properly when presented with both light and dark areas simultaneously - it's using spot metering rather than centre-weighted average metering (I think those are the correct terms from what I've read).

I've realised this with my GF's M8.

She charged it Friday night, we went out all day Saturday and out on the lash Saturday night. Woke up Sunday morning and she'd forgotten to put it on charge; still at 65% and that is with regular use throughout the day.

The battery on this thing is brillinat.

I struggle to get through a 9 hour work day without scrapping 15% on my current phone and I hardly use it frown

I'm praying the Z2 shows similar levels of battery life to the M8.

Honestly, there are so many things I like about this phone.

The click, hold, and swipe to unlock is getting used much more than double tap and seems to be more reliable too. Sometimes it can take quite a bit of movement for it to register the taps.
Camerawise, I am more than happy, best photos I have taken on a phone. The only phone camera I used more was my old Sony Ericsson C901 (? I think that's what it was).

The fact that it appears to charge so quickly is of benfit too.

I have an issue with mine (though I also had the same thing with my S3).

I am working in Germany at the moment and where my flat is there is no mobile signal (very un-German I know!!). So when I get back of an evening there is no Voice or Data, not a problem, I have internet and Skype etc. The issue is that when I get back into "signal land" I have to reboot the phone to get the Voice Data signal to come back on - As already said, this also happened with my S3.

Does anyone have any idea why this might be? I know the reboot is not much of a hassle but sometimes I forget and folk are getting irate trying (unsuccessfully) to contact me!

Have you just tried turning mobile data off and back on again?

Um no. However, I would probably forget to do that too but surely that shouldn't impact calls and texts....

Try turning on "Airplane Mode" on then off again - that seems to reset all the radios.

the M8 seems to be very good and getting good feedback. Looking at getting one this summer going from a Iphone 5.

I have mine arriving today. I can't wait to get home and have a fiddle.

Any recommendations for accessories? I'm hoping to get the Dot View case at some stage. I could do with a decent bedside dock though.

I'll keep the headset from my Nexus 4 - hopefully that'll work for calls etc.

I have a really nice iPhone dock that would be a shame to waste.

Are there any adapters that I can use so I can still play MP3's on it?

There will be a period of adjustment after so long being used to iOS but I think if you stick with it, you'll never look back. It's probably one of the best Android phones you could've chosen, welcome to One M8 ownership!

had a Android phone before the Iphone and thought I would give the fruit based product a go. Glad I'm looking at something else now. battery of mild use will last me a day max

Battery is just the tip of the iceberg when moving from iDevices.

A friend of mine recently switched from an iPhone 5 to a One (M7). He has said that he is quite frankly shocked that he put up with it as long as he did. Problem is that people see it as the norm now.

I also am thinking of buying one (currently have a 5S) but as it is my work phone and I need to be able to sync diaries with my ipad and employees iphones, is this not going to happen?

I feel this is the only thing stopping me from buying one. I'm guessing there is no app/calender etc that can be synced using different phones?

How are people getting on memory / storage wise?

I've currently got a Galaxy Nexus 16GB and am constantly dipping below the last 500MB of free space (with all the issues that causes on Android 4.x).

So I'm trying to decide if an M8 16GB + 64GB SDHC card will be ok, or if I should wait for the M8 32GB (with 64GB SDHC) to appear in the UK?

If you think you'll need more, you can upgrade the SD card to 128gb...

I have no issues with the 16gb+64gb card and I'm a space we. That sounds wrong.

There's not even any news on a 32gb version for the UK. I thought I'd rather wait but it really isn't an issue. I view it as 16gb for phone and apps, 64gb for music and video etc. Besides, with 4G and my data allowance, I'm streaming most stuff now anyway.
